“Malaya offers a wide variety of entrees at an affordable price.”
Great tasting, cheap, and large portions.
Hidden away in a bland strip mall, this is the best Asian food in Atlanta. What is even more incredible, it's cheap and they deliver.
The owners are very friendly, and they will remember your name and favorite meals as soon as they've met you more than once.
The Singapore Noodles is the best noodle dish they have. Incredible flavor and tons of ingredients.
Best restaurant in atlanta on a budget.
Malaya offers a wide variety of entrees at an affordable price. I have noticed that the owners have not only memorized my name and usual order, by remember most of their returning customers. Their vegetarian options are delicious and plentiful.
The only con is that they are located in a strip mall that is kind of out of the way...but it is nice that it's not always packed.
Great tasting Thai, Malaysian food, Very friendly and welcoming service staff, intimat environment, and great on the wallet. Malaya, has a very warm and friendly environment. The establishment is managed by a real gentleman; friendly in his swagger, has an air of charm, which makes the visit to the restaurant much more enjoyeable. He is defintiely the personality of the place. The food is very flavorful. The restaurant provides for a nice lunch atmosphere, allowing one to have nice conversatioin and a great meal in under an hour.
Bizarre but Good. I have been here several times in the past 6 months. We continue to go because the dumplings are delicious and the main courses are great as well. However, we have had strange experiences with the staff. Our party asked for a wine/beer list and told there was none. We saw other patrons driking beer at their table and expressed our confusion. The waitress acted as if she didn't understand our questions and just kept smiling and shrugging. We asked if we could buy our own wine at the liquor store across the street. Again, the same response. After purchasing wine and bringing it into the restaurant we saw the staff serving other customers beer from behind the bar. When our waitress came to uncork and pour our wine she filled huge styrofoam cups nearly to the brim with our wine. The food was good but the staff is confusing and unhelpful.
No quality control. There is no excuse for the bad food..
This restaurant is the reason I have given up on delivery oriental food in Atlanta. In the past, it has been wonderful, but tonight. . . there is NO excuse for that food ever leaving the kitchen. Clearly, Malaya has very bad quality control problems. Our Mongolian beef was so horribly burned that it was inedible, and a simple visual inspection of it prior to the dish leaving the kitchen would have easily spotted this. The Nam Sod was also disgusting. It had no spice to it, tasted like they used artificial lime juice, and I don't believe they used even a drop of fish sauce. Malaya's Nam Sod is more like a sickeningly sweet candied beef than is the real dish. The curry I ordered was also sub par for this restaurant. The Hot and Sour soup was nearly flavorless. A very bad delivery experience. I cannot recommend against this restaurant heavily enough. If Malaya will serve the Mongolian beef they sent us, I can only imagine what horribly dangerous and spoiled seafood they would be willing to send out.
No quality control what so ever. It's a pity, I used to like this place. Go somewhere else. Save yourself.
Exotic Asian influences run on the hot and spicy side..
Aside from colorful batik tablecloths, the only hints of decor in this storefront restaurant are red paper lanterns and framed prints. The eclectic Asian menu features veggie-centric dishes, like the Achar, a spicy pickled salad and a spicy garlic eggplant. The Malayan soup and Kari Ayam Malaya, a chicken curry dish, share a sweet coconut sauce. The Sambal Udang, a shrimp and okra saute, will awaken your taste buds with a jolt of heat.
Great food, great service. Since I discovered this place I have been going there many times - it has become "comfort food" for my wife and I. The food is great, the portions are generous, and the service is great. After going there only a few times they already know us and ask us how we've been, etc... I highly recommend this place for its value and friendly atmosphere.
Most Authentic Malyasian Food in Atlanta. What a find !!! Having lived in the Far East for some time and now living in the US - I got so frustrtaed trying to find authentic asian cuisine - However - Harry, Jeremiah, Lynn and their staff are amazing !!! Truly incredible food, great beers (asian) - excellent service and consistently exceeding expectations - Just go and fnd out for yourselves please !!!!!
Great food. The food here are quite exotic. Great food and nice music. I was totally fool by the editor.
Pure excellence !!. I have been dining at Malaya's since it opened and have always enjoyed excellent service and excellent food. I rate all other restaurants by their standards and very few have come close. They greet me by name, know what I like, the food is always consistant and they are more than willing to tweek a dish for me.
