The Scene – This worth-a-trip cantina is tucked away in the never-never land beyond the mattress outlets of Chattahoochee Avenue. Inside are low ceilings, a small bar, funky religious icons, would-be celebrity photos and neon beer signs. Service is fast and efficient, but be prepared to wait for a table. – – The Food – In rejuvenated form, this is the food you'd find in any of the one million "Mexican" restaurants crowding the roadside from here to old El Paso. From top to bottom, though, ingredients here are fresher, flavors are bolder, and the use of chilies a bit…

Editor's Tips

Parking:
There's a small lot, but you may park in the lot next door or at the Pepsi plant across the street; avoid spots marked "Pepsi Employee Only."
Know Before You Go:
Arrive before 6:45pm to avoid a long wait. Only groups of six or more can make a reservation, Monday through Thursday.
The Extras:
Belly up to the bar for a strong margarita and be sure to ask for chips and salsa--they're free while you wait.

  2. always get the queso it is delicious with jalapenos so good.
  3. My boyfriend and I have been here many times and we LOVE the food.
  4. After years of what seemed like obnoxious hyperbole, I finally went to Nuevo myself to check out the food.
  5. can forgive both of these flaws because their food is consistently fantastic!
  6. The food was cold and gross.
  7. Burritos are fantastic and HUGE and a lot like taqueria burritos--nor your boring combo #7 burrito like you get at Laredo's.
  8. have dined at Nuevo Laredo on numerous occasions, and I am still trying to figure out what all the hype is about for a place where there is inadequate seating, non-existent waiting area, average food and overpriced margaritas.
  9. suggest TAQUERIA DEL SOL on Howell mill much much better food and service.
  10. you can get just as good food at the frozen food section for kroger.
  11. Nuevo Laredo has some of the best mexican food in town- their vegetarian dishes in particular shine, especially when you consider that meatless options at a mexican restaurant are often limited to cheese enchilladas & refried beans (oh wait!
  12. The food is very good!
  13. With factories and wholesalers as its neighbors along Chattahoochie Ave, Nueveo Laredo is a worthwhile trek for some authentic border-Mexican grub.
  14. Tacos--true taqueria style tacos--two corn tortillas, nice roasted pork or barbacoa (yes that's right) with onions, cilantro and lime.
  15. The salsa is amazing and every dish I have tried is unbelievably good.
  16. The Mole is delicious as well as the chicken quesadillas- finally someone in Atlanta has learned how to serve it the right way.
  17. Combination plates are available and the portions are generous, people, so order a couple dishes and pass them around the table to sample the menu.
  18. Nuevo Laredo offers a delicious variety of home-cooked authentic Mexican foods and their margeritas are one of the best I've tasted in town.
  19. it really reminded me of a trailer stop in Texas, with no clue what so ever of authentic Mexican, this is the "REAL TEX MEX" invented by us "americanos" which i have nothing against it, but please lets not insult our fellow neighbors trying to say that th

  32. Enchilada--very good sauce not too much cheese.
  33. The tamales are one of my favorites--they're sizeable and quite tasty.
  34. Each taco had its own unique flavor; a great change from the many Mexican restaurants whose dishes all tend to taste alike.

  36. It is well hidden but man the food is great.
  37. Where else can you get stuffed on great food for under $10?
  38. The food is good, and expect a wait for a table, especially at night (any night of the week, but closed Sunday).
  39. We love mexican food and had heard about Nueco Laredo through people and websites.
  40. Avoid the temptation to fill up on chips and salsa, which are excellent, because the chicken mole is to die for, and the steak and lobster tacos rock.
  41. If you like taquerias you'll like Nuevo b/c they serve many of these same dishes you get at your favorite taquerias.
  42. My husband's flautas were greasy and topped with salsa (too wet to pick up by hand -- the usual way of serving them), and my cheese enchiladas were full of thick and heavy cheese.
  43. The food was delicious, but I must say that the service was horrific and I'm in no rush to go back.
  44. The food was very fresh and extremly tasty.

Excellent

by Jim Barlar at Citysearch

This is one of my favorite Tex Mex restaurants in Atlanta. The food is worth the wait! I have had several items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The service is not the best I have ever had, but my glass is never empty, the chip basket always has chips. The servers are not "chatty" as the place is always busy. The parking could be better and I wish the wait was shorter. But what drew me to the place was seeing all of the people waiting outside, I knew if people would wait outside in Atlanta with our heat and humidity to eat here, the food must be good. They and the many others that eat here can't be wrong. You've got to try this place!

horrible

by sharzee at Citysearch

first of all- it's a terrible, out of the way location, with very limited parking. second, the service is awful. nobody ever came by to see how our meal was. food was overpriced. the kicker was i never felt so bloated and sick for 2 days after eating there. had beef chile relleno. 25.00 for just my meal. which was chile relleno plus a margarita. yikes!

So Far the Best you're gonna get

by shert at Citysearch

Still on the search for good Mexican, but this place so far has the best I've found, still leaves you searching for better though.

Very laid back atmosphere which is really cool. Drink a beer in the parking lot while you wait.

The Chicken Enchiladas Suiza are pretty decent, HUGE portions.

For now this will have to do.

  • Pros: Laid Back Atmosphere, decent mexican, good price

Authentic Border-Mexican Food

by ryansims at Citysearch

With factories and wholesalers as its neighbors along Chattahoochie Ave, Nueveo Laredo is a worthwhile trek for some authentic border-Mexican grub. Cool, prickly, and cilantro laden salsa go great with the tangy bright green margaritas. Order anything with brisket on the plate and you'll thank me later. Gooey yellow cheese and red sauces accompany most entrees including tacos and enchiladas. Combination plates are available and the portions are generous, people, so order a couple dishes and pass them around the table to sample the menu. The all-Latino staff is mega friendly and patient, but be prepared to split up your large party to avoid a huge wait - especially on the weekends.

  • Pros: Anything with brisket, Great Salsa, Good Margs
  • Cons: Long waits for bigger parties
