The indie art and fashion scene motivate this small gallery and boutique..
The History
Young Blood Gallery was born in the summer of 1997 in the West End home of Kelly Teasley and Maggie White. In 1999, the pair jumped east across town to a former television repair shop in Grant Park, transforming it into a real gallery. In early 2003, Teasley and White transformed the gallery's adjoining artist workspace into a boutique with local flair.
The Wares
A penchant for self-taught and alternative art plays out in a series of somewhat irregular, but mostly inventive, shows by emerging young artists. Each year in May, "Krylon and Beyond" features national graffiti artists and the work they do beyond the streets. The theme of self-taught, alternative art continues with the boutique. The stark white room adjacent to the gallery sells a rotating selection of handmade clothing, posters, jewelry and books--all made by Atlanta designers.
