In Short – Tucked away on the second level of the Midtown Promenade, the certified Iyengar yoga center offers 30 classes a week, from beginner to advanced levels. The studio's white walls, hardwood floors and high ceilings provide a welcoming space. Director Kathleen Pringle studies regularly with B.K.S. Iyengar in India.
Bad customer service!

I attended a class in August on a Wednesday morning and it was pretty good. I decided to sign up for a series beginning in September. Unfortunately, I missed the first session due to a last minute scheduling conflict; therefore, I decided to cancel the series. I called and called and emailed to request a refund. No one ever answered the phone, returned my calls, nor responded to my email. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. Bad business practices!!
Not your Mammas Yoga.

If you want to learn what Yoga is about, if you want to push your mind and your body and feel twice as great as you would anywhere else you go for your efforts..you come here and learn the yoga that has been cultivated through the ages, the yoga of precision. If for the extent of your Yoga, you want someone to be nice to you and speak in a soft, and relaxing tone go to your local gym and you will stil feel good and it may just be what you need. I have tried many different Yogas, not one comes close to the integrity of this yoga. This Yoga comes from the foundation of the Yoga Sutras. If you want the real deal, this is it. This is one of the top branches of yoga. At Stillwater Yoga they have a variety of styles for everyone (gentle or vigourous) and they also offer a Pranayama or breathing class that will leave you very...inspired.
Steve is an excellent teacher..has been for many years, but some people just expect to be catered too everywhere they go. This yoga is not for the meek.

- Pros: Be happy there is Iyengar in Atlanta.
- Cons: There is only one studio in Georgia
uptight yoga

I have been practicing yoga for the past 10 years (3 + times a week) in San Francisco. On a recent trip to Atlanta I dropped in on two classes at Stillwater Yoga Studio. Unfortunately I found two instructors at Stillwater hostile towards modifications. They made negative examples out of students and didn?t show the ?correct? posture as example. They both prefer giving verbal orders rather than demonstrating correct posture. I was told on more than one occasion that I wasn?t doing the ?classical? pose. It was inferred that non-classical was a bad.
Over the years I have had an opportunity to practice with many excellent and highly regarded instructors.
My experience with the instructors at Stillwater was disappointing.
I always look forward to an opportunity to practice while traveling. Hopefully other studios in Atlanta have more to offer.
