In Short – Neon beer signs and homoerotic posters are attached to anything that stands still at one of Atlanta's oldest and most popular neighborhood gay bars. Most patrons skip the pinball machine in favor of the huge tropical patio, complete with cozy partitioned huts - think Gilligan's Island gone glam. Make your way up to the second floor for a bird's eye view of the bar or a game of pool. The music is heavy and loud and regulars often turn the main bar area into a dance floor after hours. Burkhart's is full of approachable men from 21 to 40-plus along with a mix of women and various…
Best Drag Show in the City "The Mary Edith Pitts Show" Fridays and Saturdays
by JeremyS
I moved here last month from Tampa and I have to say after surveying the scene, Burkharts is hot!! I've never been too big on drag cause of how rude a lot of them can be but Mary Edith is self depricating and hysterical! You can tell she loves the people and loves what she does. I introduced myself to her after a show and she took the time to talk to me and tell me how much she appreciated me being there. I really do feel like one of the family. Keep up the good work!!
- Pros: The best drag in the city! Mary Edith Pitts is hysterical
- Cons: Too much smoke at times; Sometimes a line to get in on the weekends.
Nice place for good music.

We walked into the bar and was suprised to see so many people, we had no idea that there was a drag show going on, we went upstairs to get a drink, and see the layout of the bar. It was pretty interesing to see the bathrooms on the second floor, and i was also outside. we were unable to enjoy the patio area, but the drinks I thought were resonably priced. We then had to stand on the stairs to see the drag show, which I thought was pretty entertaining. Be careful not to stand against the wall on the stairs, someone might accidently kick a drink glass down onto you. There was not much room to dance, but if you are persisant enough you can make room. The people seemed to be nice, and there was not alot of attitdude.
- Pros: great drink prices, friendly staff
- Cons: Not enough sutiable room to see shows.
Nice layout, good food, nice guys hanging out there.

That woman complaining about the doorman probably did not have an ID, besides she would have freaked out about the nasty womens room. Anyways, talk about fun!! My friends and I got together there a few weekends ago and had a blast!! I had to come back to get my car the next day. (It was actually safe in the lot). I would recommend the place to anybody white black gay straight male female because for the money (no cover, free parking, CHEAP good food) you can't beat it in Atlanta. The place is so cool, the layout has obviously had a good deal of thought put into it. We go to Blakes from time to time to see Kitty buy honestly that blimp drag queen Ruby Red is mad at her own mama....downer, anyhow, Burkharts is cool and so are the guys that hang there.
- Pros: No cover, free parking, quality food, fun crowd
- Cons: Womens room, service, hours
