The Scene – Ferns, flickering gas lights and fountains adorn the patio; inside is more like a tavern, with dark wood and framed newspaper clippings that reinforce the restaurant's theme. The expansive patio is the big draw, especially after work and late night. Midweek, the crowd is a mix of loosened ties and little-black-dress dates, while weekends draw the work hard, play harder crowd. – – The Draw – People come here for the cocktails and hearty Cajun-style fare. A make-your-own-bloody-mary bar beckons weekend revelers with an enormous array of hot sauces, spices,…

Horrible Service
by TiffW
Front Page News has a great outdoor patio. I've heard the food was really good too... unfortunately, I never got as far as receiving a menu.
Arrived Saturday evening and requested for an outdoor table. We were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait even though there were plenty of empty tables out on the patio. Nonetheless, we grabbed a couple drinks at the bar while we waited for the hostess to tell us our table was ready. After about 15-20 minutes, a group of 8-10 walked in and stood by the hostess stand for about 5 minutes and were seated at tables out on the patio!! When my boyfriend tried to approach the hostesses, they ducked out of the way and completely ignored us. I decided to ask the bartender to speak to a manager, only to be told "We reserve tables for parties of 25 or more". "This was a party of 8-10!" At that point, the bartender just ignored me and went about his bartending business. I understand being a solo bartender with customers waiting, but seriously, you couldn't even ask one of the wait staff hanging out at the bar to grab the manager for me?
In our frustration, we decided to leave. On the way out, I called the restaurant to speak to a manager, only to be told he was not available and to leave my name and number, so "Larry" could call me back. Well, 2 days later and my phone still has not rung...
Bad service trumps good food.... Very disappointed with Front Page News Midtown...
Terrible
by Jonathan B
We called while parking to find out if there was a wait. We were told there was no wait. When we arrived the host clearly looked at our two small children, and said there was a wait. Five parties were all sat before us in tables and booths. We were finally sat in a booth 30+ minutes after we arrived. We ordered almost thirty minutes later. We did not receive our food until almost two hours after we arrived.
The food was decent.
Until! My son clearly came down with food poisoning from his corn dog nuggets, fries, or milk.
We will not be returning, and I suggest you don't go here.
Manager Use Profanity!
by foodguyatl
Today started out great, picked up a buddy for a quick lunch. Went to FPN and ordered the Grouper sandwich. It was brought to me, bit in to it and realized this is/'was not GROUPER. I believe it was Tilapia (a lot of places try to pass tilapia off as grouper). The manager came over and explained this was ASIAN grouper, but yes grouper. I am contacting the health department now to have this checked. I am convinced that what they are selling is not in any grouper family, but we'll leave that one to the authorities... I asked to sub with something else since this did not meet with my satisfaction, which he then told me that it was not the policy to swap out. I said fine don't do me any favors, I’ll pay and leave. He felt the need to keep arguing rather than just doing as I asked (very poor customer relations skills). I told him to swap or bring me the check and I would leave… He walked off and clearly and with witnesses called me a name regarding a portion of human anatomy. To say that I will never, ever return to this place is an understatement of all time.
This Was The Worst Lunch I've Had In Years
by ClydeHolmes
I'd had lunch here several times before but it'd been years since I'd last visited. I invited a business partner and bragged about the food while we drove there. Needless to say, I for one was excited.
The reception was warm to begin with, I have always enjoyed the outdoor seating but it was just a little too hot and we wanted a quiet location where we could talk. So we were seated upstairs in the back. The waiter was for the most part ok. I didn't really pay him much attention until later.
We ordered the shrimp and crawfish etouffee. To be perfectly honest I had forgotten my glasses, so I asked the waiter "What's good." One of the things he'd recommended was the etouffee so that's what we both ordered.
Here's where it get's bad fellows; so if you don't want to read further I'd understand.
We waited for 20 min's for our lunch order. While waiting the domesticated Fly's began to take over. I was constantly fanning and brushing, and still trying to close the deal. When the food came, we thanked the waiter. But, after fighting with almost raw onions and peppers that out numbered the shrimp and crawfish almost 10 to 1 my jaws were tired from chewing. I'm 58 years old. I seldom complain; especially when I'm trying to make a sale. So I casually mentioned the junkyness of the etouffee. The clear fact that the peppers were virtually raw. And, that the seafood was almost non-existent.
Well, he immediately went and got the manager, who came to me appearing very rigid and inquiring about whether I had a complaint. I repeated it for him with an additional explanation of that which I'd told the waiter. He listened, said ok. And that was all.
So, my response is to tell everyone who I'd told about how fabulous the Front Page food and service was that it's no longer like that. Then, I've also taken to telling other people such as yourselves the same. In fact I joined this site only for this purpose. Next, I will begin telling perfect strangers that the manager didn't care about the food, the service, or me as a customer.
So, I will help him to have his message heard: The Front Page News is no longer news. It should be listed in the help wanted section. Or, worst still the Obits! At best the manager should've offered an excuse and/or an apology.
So, take my advice, don't waste your money or time; life is too short and should be spent someplace more enjoyable.
Horrible experience
by Jafo B
My wife and I took our daughter out to Front Page News on Crescent, last Saturday evening. We reserved a table, via Lindsay (one of the only good experiences with FPN) upfront near the band for 10:00PM. When we arrived, no one to show us our table. Once we located it, purely by chance, it was a complete mess, and there was no one to clean it up. When did Atlanta become self service? So we did bus our own table, and were promptly, and rudely yelled at by the waiter who magically showed up after we cleaned our own table, since (get this?) he was interested in the receipt for his tip; not that he wanted to take our order or even clean up the table.
The bar was 2-3 deep, smokey, and the floor was sticky and nasty, and the place was an utter mess. Now don't get me wrong, we were not looking for a 5 star experience here, but come on? "A" star would have been nice.
We managed to get a few rounds of drinks by shoving past the bar hangers (who could blame them for keeping their seats) but enough was enough, we left and gave another business our money.
