The Scene – Tucked discretely behind a Peachtree shopping row, this relaxed retreat is more old-school Atlanta than hot and trendy. Foliage cascades from the second-floor terrace, shrouding exposed brick, and oversized Steve Penley paintings pop bright hues throughout the loft space. Patrons--sophisticated, but not stodgy--dine between the open kitchen and extensive wine bar. – – The Food – Sizeable portions of French-tinged American cuisine satisfy inexpensively. The monolithic crawfish and vegetable fritter wedge, and plump shrimp cake with sweet and spicy blood…

Everything was awfull

A few of us went to this restaurant over the weekend and the four of us agree that none of us will be back. The service (what little we received) was non-existant. We waited a good half hour before our wine came. This after some song and dance about how we could try the wine first. We knew what we wanted and it was rather annoying. I have never been to a restaurant where they did this and found it in poor taste. Next our food. I'm not going to waste words on it. All of the food was mostly untouched. Then the waiter seemed to disappear. Our food sat and we were never asked if things were ok or anything. At one point we flagged another waitress down and get this; she let's out a sigh. We didn't bother with dessert or a second bottle of wine. I was embarrassed for the restaurant and myself for picking what may be the worst restaurant in the south.
My favorite place

I am surprised at a few of the reviews because this is my favorite place in Atlanta. I think some were based on wanting quick service and I would agree; your average meal here will last two hours. I would argue that this type of atmosphere is designed for intimate conversations over glasses of wine and food.
I find the time enjoyable as we typically have several glasses of wine and appetizers before enjoying our main meal. my husband and I go or we will have another couple (sometimes two couples) join us. Its a very intimate setting and you can spend time conversing and laughing together. We have always enjoyed ourselves and the service. Do they come up every five minutes asking questions, no, but I would not want them to either. If my glass is empty they always refill it and if our plates have been eaten, they clear the dishes. They seem to know when we are ready to order - drinks/meal/desert in a timely fashion. In my opinion, I think that is what makes eating there enjoyable. I would recommend eating here on special occasions or on date nights or times when you want to converse with your friends or family. its perfect for times when you do not want to be rushed or feel pressured to leave.
I also like it here because of their wine menu; it is VERY extensive - they switch out the menu quarterly and have a wine board that selects great wines. They allow you to test out several samples before selecting a wine.
I have never had a bad dish - I would recommend the baked goat cheese served in phyllo crust as an appetizer and the tuna served rear for the main course.
Lastly, they provide freshly baked muffins as "to-go" bags for you to take for the next morning. Nice touch.
Again, I could see how different expectations might, but its perfect for us and our friends. My husband and I eat there every two months or so - its a special restaurant and I think most would enjoy it if they are looking for a place with exceptional wine, great food and an environment where you can be relaxed and enjoy time with friends and family.
- Pros: Intimate, Relaxing, Wonderful Food and WINE
Not worth a visit

The food was bad. The horseradish dipping sauce for potato Gorgonzola fritters was very bland and did nothing to cut the fried fatty feeling. The sauce for mushroom ravioli on the other hand had too much vinegar in it. If not for the fact that it took almost 45 minutes between the appetizer and main course, I would not have even had the second bite of of ravioli. On top of that, the service was awful with all the waiters crowding around at the open kitchen waiting for the food and not even asking for wine refills / water. Overall a bad experience. This will be my first and only visit to this place. They gave us a discount for delay only after pointing it out (they told us they will before the main course came). Not worth a visit.
- Pros: Good atmosphere
- Cons: food, service
Lovely, quiet place

I love coming back to this restaurant over and over again. The staff is courteous. The food portions are not only delicious but also very generous. The wine list is extensive, and you can taste most of the wines before ordering a glass. Steve Penley's paintings adorn the walls, which creates a warm and inviting environment.
- Pros: Great wine list and large portions
- Cons: it's hard to find the first time
what a hole

A friend of mine and i had dinner at this bistro. It was the worst food and service i have ever had. Now i know why we were among the few people in the place. I will never go again and will be sure to tell others.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
