The Scene
Tucked discretely behind a Peachtree shopping row, this relaxed retreat is more old-school Atlanta than hot and trendy. Foliage cascades from the second-floor terrace, shrouding exposed brick, and oversized Steve Penley paintings pop bright hues throughout the loft space. Patrons--sophisticated, but not stodgy--dine between the open kitchen and extensive wine bar.
The Food
Sizeable portions of French-tinged American cuisine satisfy inexpensively. The monolithic crawfish and vegetable fritter wedge, and plump shrimp cake with sweet and spicy blood orange vinaigrette spoil appetites; complimentary fresh bread--spongy with a salty hint--is enough to start. Lamb and pork exude succulence, both worthy examples of the overall attention to tenderness. But Toulouse shines most in the detailed pairing of spirited sauces and full-bodied wines. Even chicken impresses with sweet potato puree and cranberry relish. For dessert, try the rum-soaked banana bread pudding or the flourless cake, which bridges mint chocolate mousse and fudge.

I love coming back to this restaurant over and over again. The staff is courteous. The food portions are not only delicious but also very generous. The wine list is extensive, and you can taste most of the wines before ordering a glass. Steve Penley's paintings adorn the walls, which creates a warm and inviting environment.

A friend of mine and i had dinner at this bistro. It was the worst food and service i have ever had. Now i know why we were among the few people in the place. I will never go again and will be sure to tell others.

Tucked away on Peachtree near Peachtree Battle, Toulouse is an atmospheric romantic bistro. Beautiful bold paintings hang from the walls and an open kitchen add to the charm. My wife raved over the Tuna and I enjoyed the pork loin-- both were exceptional. I was impressed with the waiters ability to perfectly pair our wine with our food and our preferences. We will definitely be going back.
