Editorial Review for Park Tavern – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
Popular for alumni mixers, corporate happy hours and post-in-line skating cool-downs, this Midtown destination offers postcard views of Piedmont Park and the Midtown skyline. The spacious flagstone terrace is at the center of the action, attracting hordes of revelers during summer concerts and annual blow-out parties on St. Patrick's Day and New Year's Eve. During cooler months, crowds head inside to mingle and cozy up to the bar in the lodge-like dining room.
The Food
This busy restaurant features a familiar tavern menu built out with craft-brewed beer, such as the exceptional Park Trail Ale and the medium-bodied Olmsted Amber, named in honor of the park's designers. Buffalo wings, artichoke dip and brewery cheeseburgers are popular choices. Adventurous diners can sample the pecan-smoked barbecue--especially the ribs or the chicken.

A group of us went to Park Tavern last Saturday for "When it rains, we pour- $1 drafts".... little did we know, it doesn't really exist. After the bartenders were rude, telling us it "hadn't rained long enough"- even though all of the tables from outside had moved inside because of the downpour- the Manager proceeded to continue the rudeness. I approached the Manager and asked why there weren't $1 draft beers, since that is what a group of us came for, he proceeded to tell me that 1) they were crowded 2) it was up to his discretion when and IF he wants to give $1 beers. The Manager stated that on the website there is a disclaimer that it is up to his discretion if he would like to have his ever-standing promotion or not. The website does have a disclaimer, but it states more than 1/4 inch of rain, which was definatley surpassed on Saturday. Needlesstosay, we did not get $1 drafts and we will not be going back to Park Tavern again. Poor service, rude staff- for a great location I'd suggest Quattro on the other side of the park, better food and service.
Pros: Great views of the park
Cons: Rude manager & bartenders

I highly suggest that you do not go to Park Tavern for dinner for these reasons: 1.) Rude Waiters: The waiters were absolutely rude and took an extremely long time to bring the drinks. It was my girlfriend's 21st birthday and people had a lot of drink requests to buy for her. Unfortunately those orders never went through because the waiters were gone 90% of the time. I ordered a sweet tea and did not even have a re-fill. 2.) Slow checks: I waited nearly 45 minutes to get my check from the waiter. Once it arrived I gave him the check back and waited nearly another 30 minutes to get the change back. 3.) Lack of security in the area: As we were leaving, our close friends had their car broken into and their GPS device stolen. The security guards drove up and down the parking lot and did not see the man. The area is poorly lit and the fence separating the park and the parking lot is nearly non-existent. So the man who stole the GPS smashed the window and ran off into the park. When Atlanta PD was contacted we were placed on hold and 4 phone calls to get a unit to come out. A unit came out but was for a fist fight that occurred in front of the tavern. If the 3 reasons listed is what you call a great evening then this place is certainly for you. However for us, that was the first and LAST time we will ever go back to Park Tavern.
