In Short
The spacious, cream-colored main room of this Italian veteran of the Midtown dining scene is anchored by an open kitchen, where a suckling pig usually spins on the rotisserie. Though the restaurant is popular with power-lunchers, crowds are thin many nights of the week. Arrive early for your reservation and sip a glass of champagne at the understated bar. Servers are polished in that Buckhead Life Group standard. For the menu, Antipasta and salads are a hit-and-miss affair. Arugula salad and artichokes with mint pesto are wise choices. Save most of your appetite for the outstanding pastas, including velvety gnocchi in Gorgonzola cream sauce and a misshapen lasagne layered with a soulful Bolognese. The kitchen uses a respectfully light hand with fish dishes. Tried and true tiramisu is a fitting choice for the finale.

If you get Earl, ask for another waiter. The bus boys were more attentive. They poured our wine when our glasses was empty as Earl walked by without a care in the world. We had to ask another waiter a suggestion who gladly explained the roasted suckling pig and the lamb which is roasted for many hours and vacuum packed for freshness. Earl explained it as duck and lamb. We ended up with a very inexpensive meal because with his unfriendliness we decided not to get what we always get, a martini, a bottle of red wine, 2 appetizers, salad, entree, dessert, after dinner drink and a bottle port wine to share. We ended up only getting a martini, a bottle of wine, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and that's it. We just wanted to get the bill and go. As we were leaving a Manager did ask how was the meal? I started to say great and leave but thought, no, he deserves to know. I explained what happened with Earl, he apologized for Earl while Earl was staring us down in the corner. I gave him my business card and was surprised that a week and a half later, not even a single email as to say, Please try us again or I'm sorry for what happened, come again and we will get you a different server. What shocked me most, is if he would have looked at my business card, he would have realized I am the Manager of a hotel in Buckhead who refers BLG restaurants exclusively. I guess it ended up in the trash as did our memories of Veni Vidi Vici!!!

We ordered off the reasonably priced tasting menu. My fiance got the ravioli and I got the mushroom pasta to start. Both were incredibly tasty! The pasta was cooked to the right tenderness and the sauce with the mushrooms was full of flavor. For the main course, the swordfish was cooked perfectly and was prepared in an incredibly flavorful sauce. My fiance had the shrimp which was also incredibly flavorful. In addition, we arrived late, and ended up being the last people in the restaurant. Never once, did they make us feel rushed. We felt very welcomed, and the service was top notch. I look forward to the next time we go!

Veni Vidi Vici is an upscale Italian restaurant located in Midtown Atlanta on 14th & West Peachtree Streets. Located on the ground floor of a huge office building, it is a very pretty space with outdoor seating, but you can't beat sitting inside and smelling the delicious wood burning oven. The food is quite good, somewhat large portion sizes so go hungry. Excellent upscale dining without the pretentious attitued.
