“The decor and style of this place is incredible and sure to impress even those with the m.”
“And, it's a nice place for private parties.”
“The theaters are goreous and staff are very helpful.”
“Taking out-of-town visitors on the tours is a great entertainment value - everyone loves it.”
The Theatre is Just So-So. My boss had given me tickets to the ballet when I was in town. Not really my style but I decided to go anyway since the tickets were free and I didn’t have anything better to do with my time. The ballet was nice but the theatre wasn’t as great as I was expecting. I’m used to NY theatres where things are a little different. Concessions were basic, bathrooms were overcrowded and under stocked and the floors were in desperate need of a sweep or mop because my shoes kept sticking to the floor. Unfortunate because the décor inside is actually very nice.
Tour Provider Needs to be Fired. 2-3 years ago I booked a private tour of the Fox for my family - 28 of us - and it was easy and pleasant. I tried to do the same for this year's holiday gathering of the family and I've nearly pulled my hair out. Getting someone to call you back is the least of the Preservation's problems. Getting a straight answer, much less a timely answer is impossible. The Fox needs to take over management of these tours. The Preservation group is obviously on its last leg.
No Fox Tours for the Handicapped without lots of $$$$$. I see from another review that I'm not the only one going through hell to take a tour of the Fox. We were told that we'd have to arrange a privte tour because my brother cannot climb stairs (Mr. Shook of the Fox confirmed this). THIS STINKS. Because my brother cannot climb stairs we have to pay an additional fee for a tour.
Fox Needs to do something about tours. The Fox is wonderful. Our family has enjoyed many events there. We've taken friends and family on the guided tours. Recently we wanted to take our kids, visitors from out of town and their kids on a tour. It would have been easier to re-finance my home than it was to get information from the people who manage the tours. We decided to go to the History Center instead.
Another World.
Wow! I have only been here once, but am in love with the place. I saw CATS here a while back - and okay, yes, the show - ROCKED - of course.
But the FOX itself is beautiful. Classy. Fun. Wonderful interior - and all the staff are friendly and helpful if you get lost (yeah I did).
One of Atlanta's Finest Treasures. Most Atlantan's know the story of this Yaarab Temple-cum-movie house-cum theatre that nearly bit the dust on more than one occasion. Now regarded as one of the premier performance arts theatres of its class, the Fabulous Fox hosts touring Broadway shows, legendary concerts, ballet, performance art, and even weddings and proms. Other Moorish-themed rooms within the great space, including the Egyptian Ballroom and the Grand Salon, host private events year round. The volunteer ushers couldn't be friendlier, and the non-profit organization brings in wonderful cultural events to our fair city. Make sure you arrive early to catch the "Mighty Mo" organ, and don't forget to look up to notice the twinkling stars above.
Incredible Evening. I've been to many events at the Fabulous Fox and I can always count on a wonderful evening in a beautiful historic landmark that seems almost timeless. The Fox is definetly one of Atlanta's greatest treasures to be preserved and enjoyed for generations to come.
Beautiful Old Theatre. Love seeing all of the shows that come to town here. They have really done a great job of mixing the old with the new here. The accutisics are great!
Classy, Historical and Super-Cool. The Fox is a true icon in Atlanta and is home to some of the best live performances anywhere. In the past year I've seen My Morning Jacket, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, Les Miserables and Chris Rock. The acoustics are absolutely killer and the architecture is stunning.
5 stars for the theater, BUT Don't waste you money on River Dance. The Fox theater is the most beautiful theater I have ever been in. We went to see river Dance on May 13th. The Dancers have great talent. but that's all the good I can say about the show. The scenery was?.... there was none . the orchestra? there was none, just people on a large band stand. The theme of the show was also very poor. The singers, although they had wonderful voices, made you feel like you were at a funeral, The whole First half of the show was boring to say the least. I have seen the original River Dance and there is no comparison. as i said The talent is there but the production stunk to high heaven. The music was so loud you couldn't even hear the tapping of the feet. We left after the first half finished. what a waste of our money.
