Editorial Review for Paris On Ponce – by Betsy Riley
The Scene
This is the kind of antiquing you'd imagine finding in New Orleans. The entrance is a quaint mural of colorful French storefronts, with a wrought-iron harbor, tiny footbridge and two-story replica of the Eiffel Tower. Inside, a dark, dusty parlor with Aubusson carpets leads to an endless warren of warehouses packed with a truly amazing quantity of antiques and memorabilia. Mannequins dolled up in gold lamé, red cellophane or other whimsical garb lounge throughout.
The Goods
Though there are a few themed areas like lawn furniture, wicker, French antiques and vintage appliances, most rooms are a hodgepodge of curiosities. A table-sized Victorian birdhouse might be displayed next to a medieval-style woodcarving; while a gothic deacon's chair from an old Atlanta church might sit across from a life-size replica of an Egyptian mummy. From vintage photographs to cement gargoyles, this is a fun place to discover the unexpected.

This is the most fun I have ever had in one afternoon...well at least out in public. You wouldn't think at first glance that they couldn't fit this much merchandise in one building, but I for one am glad that they did. When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the owner and his wife who thoughtfully asked if we'd (my mom and I) been there before. Since it was our first time, they gave us a a quick explanation of the shop and told us to "have fun" and we were on our way. Each room is an adventure filled with furniture, art, knick knacks and even a few mannequins. Although it's a lot to get through we found our way through it, and had a blast, even stopping for cookies and hot apple cider. My mom found a framed sketch that she absolutely had to have, and the owner gave her a great deal on it, and even a little interesting info about the part of New Orleans that was pictured in the sketch. All in all I thought that this place is a rare find, and you'd be crazy not to check it out!! I can't wait to go back, and see whats new!! I quickly have to add that the treasure box in the front made my three year old sons day.
Pros: Selection, friendly service, great deals...and cookies.
Cons: So much to see...so little time.

If you didn't know that Atlanta, GA was outside, one could easily be convinced that they were sifting through boutiques in the streets of Paris. The best thing about Atlanta are the people that make it up. Kudos to the owners for bringing us something culturally-rich with such scope and scale (and worth promoting). A walk through Paris on Ponce is a true visual experience, and on the weekends you may just stumble across Salsa or Tango dancing in Le Moulin Rouge room, of which you can join in or grab a table and just check out the scenery, free-of-charge. I highly recommend Paris on Ponce as an escape from the mundane.
Pros: Lots to look at
Cons: May require more than one trip to get through everything
