A tourist trap to some, a Varsity fried pie is one of my favorite sugary indulgences in the city

Nothing better than a naked dog and greasy rings; skip the drive up and go inside for the full experience..."what ya'll have?" Great for kids and super cheap!

I love The Varsity. It's an Atlanta tradition and the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. Fast food at its finest and most unhealthy! Yummy!

I went to The Varsity for lunch this afternoon and the food was digusting! The double bacon cheeseburger I got was flat as a pancake. The White Castle mircowavable burgers you buy in the grocery store taste better! The fries I got with the meal were so soggy and greasy-it was digusting. After eating, my stomach was hurting me so bad. For the high volume service they have, they should have more bathroom stolls available because standing in line to use the bathroom is unacceptable. The Varsity is over priced and over rated. Do yourself a favor-stay away from this place-you're better off going to McDonalds and buying an extra value meal.

The burger I got had the texture and consistency of meatloaf and the bun was super thin. Hot dog I got was terrible. Overall my meal was pretty bad and the person I went with didn't like the food either.

Definitely DOES NOT live up the the hype and reputation. First visit will be my last.

ramu. To quote my girlfriend when we sat down: "Ew. Let's leave."

I admit at first, I was worried too. It smelled like Chinese food in this place - yes, Chinese food. The waitresses were eating their lunch at the front of the restaurant when we walked in. Without standing up, one of them smiled and pointed to a table at the back.

The restaurant was empty, despite a handmade sign that said: "Line moves quickly!" Perhaps we mistimed our meal, showing up for breakfast at noon. Either way, the menu offers mostly breakfast foods including omelets, bacon, pancakes, and my favorite: eggs benedict.

I ordered the California eggs benedict and my girlfriend got the Crab eggs benedict. Within ten minutes our waitress delivered our meal. We were happily surprised. The plate was nicely made up. My eggs benedict had large, fresh slices of avocado and fresh grilled turkey. My girlfriend's eggs benedict had heaps of real crab meat, topped with capers.

The hollandaise sauce was buttery and rich and the eggs perfectly cooked. We noticed that my plate was garnished with a lemon wedge while my girlfriend's came with an orange slice. It was a small detail, but showed that they actually care about how they present their dishes here.

We repeatedly noted how tasty the food was, and how wrong we were to prejudge the experience.

Having said this, the place would probably have netted a higher score had the ambiance been nicer. Still, who am I - a tourist - to waltz into a place that is clearly liked by the locals and ask that place to change? If you are a tourist like me, you should be happy that a place like this exists at all. Two blocks from the Prescott Hotel on Post St. sits a great little place for breakfast.

A must visit!!!. OK Here's the REAL deal about the Varsity!

The food probably won't fill you up. The burgers are very thin, the hot dogs are small, etc. The fries are often soggy & cold. But for some reason, it just tastes good. Don't go in expecting a meaty, juice burger.. go in expecting greasy, McDonald's-esque meal and you'll be satisfied.

The atmosphere is wonderful. If you come to Atlanta, you have to visit! I've been going to the Varsity for years & years (raised here in Atlanta), and I love it. Especially before a sporting event!

Frosted Orange is a MUST HAVE. They are amazing!

The food is all very affordable. For two people, we eat for $15.

An Atlanta tradition. Nobody goes here for the vegan menu. Nobody goes here because they are trying to watch what they eat. They go here for a couple of greasy chili dogs and onion rings. And this place delivers it in spades.

Varsity I do not think So!. You cannot be serious? I have frequented the varsity on occasion as hoping that the quality of the product would improve like better quality Dogs.

I suppose if you live in a closet, listen to city search ad hype. and have never visited Chicago or NY, or Even Liverpool NY (best dogs) You would not know what a great dog is. i guess one pays for the show.
