Country French with a Romantic Twist.

  • Weekend Brunch
  • Valet Parking
  • Notable Wine List

The French influenced bistro fare at Pleasant Peasant has been popular with Atlantans since the restaurant opened in 1974. Soft lighting and and chalkboard menus at each table have kept this European cafe a constant pleaser for customers who want to enjoy an extensive wine list, bowls of the famous French Onion soup or a hearty meal of seafood, pork or beef. Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, Pleasant Peasant is perfect for a romantic evening for two or a casual evening with friends.

Editorial Review for Pleasant Peasant – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Exposed brick walls and linen-topped table set a romantic tone at this approachable, intimate restaurant. French onion soup, butternut squash fritters and escargot in mushroom caps with garlic butter cream are a few of the first-course highlights. Apple barbecue lamb, plum pork and pecan-crusted swordfish are up next. To cap off the meal, there's peach shortcake and key lime pie.

Years ago, I had dinner here at least twice a week, even got engaged here, so it holds a special place. I've not been here in quite sometime, and I must say..Not what it used to be. The service was very slow. The waiters still recite the menu, but it seems the excitement is gone. The salad was dry, the "famous" cheese bread, well let's say down graded. The room was SO dark, I truly could barely see my food. There must be a reason behind this, the presentation was POOR. I was totally shocked with the changes. I don't think I'll ever come back.

Pros: Close to The Fox Theatre

Cons: Poor service and lacking in food quality

I'll list the good stuff. Efficient service, decent food, larger than average portions, nice atmosphere. So what's so bad? Well nothing really. So what's good? Well nothing really. Everything is just fine and that's the problem. The bar is being set so high that these people are going to have to work hard to keep up. I figured out that since there really isn't much in that immediate vicinity this place must do OK. Put this restaurant on 14th and Peachtree and it would be gone in a heartbeat. Nothing exceptional. Not one thing. Went because of the great reviews on city search and because they were part of the Midtown Dine and Shop week. Ended up not doing the fixed price menu and wondering what the buzz is all about. Sorry folks, just no compelling reason for me to go back!

Pros: Some good stuff

Cons: Nothing exceptional to keep me coming back
