Editorial Review for Sugar Magnolia Bed & Breakfast – by Steve Merrill
The Scene
This late-19th-century Queen Anne Victorian home retains all the quaintness and charm expected of good bed-and-breakfasts. Note the wraparound porch, three-story turret, six fireplaces, richly appointed sitting rooms and grand staircase.
The Details
The rooms all are large and immaculately maintained, with private bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout. Fireplaces and intimate nooks and crannies are ideal for a romantic escape. Sugar Magnolia aims to please with subtle, homey touches: breakfast delivered to your room, a waterfall garden and afternoon tea. You might even catch one of the owners tickling the ivories on his childhood piano.

We loved this charming B&B in an area of old, gracious homes. It felt like being in The Old South, and Sugar Magnolia was an excellent place to stay. There were so many charming touches in both the home and our room. We stayed in the Royal Suite but would like to stay in the Cottage next time. Debi gave us a tour and showed us all the rooms. We would have been happy in any of them! The Royal Suite had 2 balconies, and it was lovely sitting in the sun and reading. Breakfasts on both mornings were homemade and special. Our breakfast companions were enjoyable, and we lingered over coffee. Debi and Jim, the hosts, were very gracious and obviously proud of their beautiful home. We hope to return soon and will definitely stay here again.
Pros: Lovely area; charming home; excellent service; wonderful breakfasts

This was an exceptional value and much more relaxing than staying at a hotel in the city. This house had wonderful charm and great caretakers. The Aviary room cost less than the Mariott hotel where other members of my family were staying for a wedding. This room had painted ceilings, antique furnishings, a breathtaking view, and access to a private bathroom. The bed and sheets were exquisite. The breakfast was light and just enough to get me started in this city known for all its great food, I wanted to save room for the world famous resturants in the area. This B&B is located near Little Five Points which is a cool place to walk around and get a sense of what makes Atlanta unique. I felt very at ease with walking around and exploring. Overall a great pick and I will return!
Pros: Great location, good value, and excellent service
Cons: Which room to pick!
