The Scene
All crowds--hippie to Harley, preppie to punk--drop anchor at the Yacht Club. The natural place to grab a beer in Little Five, this friendly joint charms with one of Atlanta's most easy-going vibes. Cluttered decor recalls a packrat's closet; beer paraphernalia and the occasional maritime reference dominate the horizon. As with any cozy watering hole, the best seat is at the bar, but the side room's massive tables provide a more accommodating alternative for large groups. For a true read on this bar's personality, check out the bathroom blackboard, where those inclined can express their colorful thoughts in writing.
The Draw
While trendy scenes come and go in Atlanta, the Yacht Club seems to never change. The welcoming staff, nonjudgmental crowd and better than average bar food make believers of most who walk through the door.

In Atlanta you can pay $10 for a beer in Buckhead or $3.50 in Little Five Points. Although Little Five points may be a little scary, this must be the friendly bar in town. It's not a meet market, it's not a tourist hangout. It's just a local bar with local color reasonably price beer. After a few drinks, even the great white shark on the wall starts to look a little friendly. Pros: Friendly and affordable with real people and local color Cons: Parking

Its one of the best local bars in town. Its slam down in the middle of Little Five. Parking can be a nightmare but besides that and a few teenage homeless kids from Iowa its a gem. First off at night its dark enough you can relax and avoid creditors. The food is decent, the beer is cold, and the service is normally on the money.

Yet another Atlanta institution. Ecclectic crowd, great bar food, and good service. Don't pass up the Yacht Dog or the Brunswick stew!
