Skip the triple bypass and just get the Plain Ol' Vortex w/ cheese; it will save your life, and it's still tasty!

Best Burgers in Atlanta. Been a going to The Vortex since I was 18. You HAVE to try this place!

Have tried most of the menu at least once, and most everything is good and a safe bet. The appetizers are good (the cheese dip will make your mouth bless you). If you get a burger you should definitely order it with tots. I would recommend the Double Coronary Bypass just to at least say you have done it once, but I personally prefer the Yokohama Mama and the Tasmanian Devil Burgers. Attractive staff, good service, chill atmosphere, and great food will keep you returning for more.

I drive 45mins just to go to this place, and have taken many a date here with success. This location is 10x better than the other.

I just didn't get it. Dry bland and nothing special. Maybe I should give them another shot because the first time was terrible.

I can feel my Arteries clogging just think of it's greatness. This iconic burger joint in the heart of little 5 is a mecca for the burger loving folks around the Atlanta area. Best burger in atlanta hands down is the Double bypass burger with a side of tots. Every gooey bite of this debaucherous will send you into a food induced coma. They have a great beer selection and the Atmosphere is great as is the music selection. Trust me go eat drink and be merry.

crappy service. Although I've been to this Vortex a few times, and in the past have had good service with better-than-average bar food, I had to give only one star due to the recent bad experience I had there.

Two nights ago, I and 5 of my friends attempted to dine in at this establishment. It was around midnight. The hostess led us outside and up a flight of stairs to a small upstairs dining room. The place was literally EMPTY. The people in my party were the only diners there. She led us all the way to the back of the room to one of the larger tables. However, the table was pushed back close to the far wall. So that my friends could easily access the other half of the table (so they could pull out their chairs, comfortably remove their coats, etc.), we moved the table about 3 feet away from the wall. No big deal, right?

The server, a 30-something black dude with braids pulled back, walked out and immediately said, with an extremely disgusted look on his face, "Why did you move the table?" We were all taken aback by his attitude, as we tried to stammer out the fact that we couldn't easily access the 3 chairs on the one side of the table. He rolled his eyes and walked away.

Needless to say, we had suddenly lost our appetites. We walked out. We went to Gladys Knight's Chicken 'n Waffles around the corner and had a great experience with a nice, smiling staff.

With the plethora of dining choices in Atlanta, I find it hard to believe that the Vortex can afford to provide this type of service. Yes, you have good burgers, but if you have jerks delivering them to the tables, then I'd rather go hungry!

Best Burgers EVER!!. Just moving to GA I was excited to finally get the chance to visit the famous Vortex! I was a little upset that my 14 year old son wasn't able to join me since he would have LOVED the awesome enviroment. The place was packed but there wasn't a wait to be seated. They do need expand the building to give more seating, hopefully one day though. Our waitress wasn't very friendly and hardly made an effort to serve my table. My husband ordered the hell burger (I think that's what it was called) and loved it! I was hoping to be brave enough to try the Elvis burger but right before being rushed to order I chickened out and went with the cardic one - which was fantastic! Love the decor of the resturant and the shops around it make it even better. I vow to challenge my comfort zone one day and conquer the mighty Elvis...hopefully next time we'll get a waitress that meets the awesomeness of the food.

Bike Night on Thursdays!. This is a very cool bar and grill in L5P. They hold a bike night every Thursday night in the parking lot that has a huge turnout. Their burgers are awesome along with just about every other thing on the menu. I just wish they applied the same no smoking inside rules as most Georgia restaurants do now.

Best Burgers in Town!. the Vortex never disappoints! If you're a burger junkie and are open to trying something new - check out the Vortex.

Wonder what a burger with peanut butter, fried bananas and bacon on top tastes like? try the Elvis burger! a side of crispy plump tater tots and an enormous selection of beers from around the world will make your day any day of the week.

Why ordering chicken is a better idea.. I have to confess... I never order a burger at the Vortex. And I know, in the Burger Capital of America (Wall St Journal said it, not me) this is one of THE spots for a proper Atlanta hamburger.

But I always sub chicken at the Vortex, specifically with the Big Fat Jerk (now called the Rajin-Cajun) because the burgers are a little bit too big. I wish they'd take a cue from George's and offer two sizes of burgers. Plus my thought is that if I'm going to order something gooey, cheesy, slathered in sauce and difficult to eat.... I would rather it NOT be ground beef. That just makes it into a giant mess that makes holding on to the burger more of a priority than actually eating it.

The array of burger variations--that include the sloppy likes of guac, bananas, teriyaki glaze, chili, pesto sauce, etc--just seem to go better with (gasp) chicken. Regardless on the beef vs veggie vs bison vs chicken debate, I give universal kudos for the best tator tots in the city, and for carrying Magic Hat beer on draft.
