Editorial Review for The Vortex – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Wonderfully subterranean and slightly sinister, this popular Little Five burger joint's large dark rooms and long bar are stocked with retro ads, crazy knick-knacks, and skeletons on motorcycles. Burgers are the big draw: Choose from the Yokohama Mama to the Coronary Bypass, but standards like a classic patty melt or a bacon cheeseburger are the best bets. If red meat isn't your thing, try the turkey reuben or a top-notch veggie burger.

Insider Tips

What to Drink

Serious hard liquor and a mind-boggling selection of draft and bottle beers properly round things out.

The Service Staff are Meant to be Rude, that is the draw to this Hamburger Joint. If you are easily offended don't go there. This place is great! I love it. I am wrting this in response to the person (GTgirl01) who posted: "Rude Manager" on 2/19/08.

Pros: Great Hamburgers! Rude Employees, because its supposed to be that way!

Cons: If your offended easily, you won't like the Rude Employees!

The burgers at Vortex are very good, but the customer service is horrendous. I ate there the other night with my brother, boyfriend, and mother. We ordered a second pitcher of beer as we were finishing our meal. My brother still had a half glass of beer in front of him when a guy walked up to the table. He identified himself as the manager, said we had been using the table for two hours (in reality, it was probably an hour and 15 minutes), and that they had a lot people waiting to eat. In more words or less, he told us to leave. As our mouths were hanging open in shock, we had no response. A fantastic burger is not worth such rudeness. I've been a long time fan of Vortex, but we won't be going back!

Pros: good burgers

Cons: manager is beyond rude
