Most Eclectic Selection in Atlanta!. this place is cool as all get out. Cheap lil membership and a super selction of hard-to-finds, cult classics, foreign films - you name it!
Must check out!. This place is awesome! I have rented several foreign films and they have all been great movies! I would tell anyone in atlanta to check this place out! Plus they are open late!
This store is, for lack of a better word..... "the bomb." I am a fan of indie films, foreign cinema, and documentaries and this store specializes in all these and more. Videdrome has a definitive collection of hard to find and out of print titles. They have, I would imagine, every title in the Criterion Collection and the staff is very knowledgeable about films and not just some clone drone trying to sell you some sort of package deal to get you take more run of the mill, crap titles that Hollywood seems to churn out more and more of these days. They provide titles that Blockbuster wouldn't rent or touch with a 10 foot pole (due to contreversial content) and also have a great deal of fun and quirky titles that you can't find anywhere else.
Cool, local-owned shop. I personally am tired of lines, bad service, and tired selection at Blockbuster. Not to mention their Puritan and very PC collection. Or the chill that goes down my spine when I hear someone utter, "Hey look, they still have a copy of Miss Congeniality 2!", or "I don't watch movies with subtitles." Videodrome has none of these problems. They have a great selection, including the staple independent films, foreign releases, cult flicks, classics, and even some more obscure flicks (japanese cyberpunk, etc.). They have a good Anime selection for rent, which is also pretty hard to find. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the product. For being a largely independent movie rental joint, you also don't get the impression that people are gauging your "indieness" while you are there. Unlike, for instance, Movies Worth Seeing. Anyway, its worth checking out...and not just because you are tired of blockbuster.
small town in the big city. I've gone to Blockbuster and had people not know who David Lynch is, I've gone to Movies Worth Seeing and gotten the impression I'm inconveniencing people by trying to rent a movie. The guys at Videodrome have opinions I respect and seek out, and don't make a career out of being hipper than everyone.
Cool little shop. This shop has such a weird and quirky vibe, but they have a pretty good selection of videos. I like the fact that they group movies in less obvious ways than just genre--like grouping them by director.
