Local art and handmade trinkets fill this colorful 25-year-old Highlands landmark.. The Scene
Nestled snugly among the quaint window shops of N. Highland Avenue, this Highland veteran entices window shoppers inside with an eclectic mix of artful merchandise. The store's colorful items for sale provide all the decorum needed, painting the small shop from floor to wood-paneled ceiling. With the many curious things to look at, the shop and studio moonlights as both a retail outlet and source of eye candy for strolling browsers.

The Goods
Every item in the store is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, making the prices a bit steeper than average. Boasting pieces from more than 200 local artists, the store offers a varied assortment of pottery, sculpture, paintings and jewelry, as well as other handmade ornamentals, such as custom-decorated greeting cards and individually-painted glassware. On request, many of the artists will also do custom orders and repairs.

Great gift spot. Unique handmade pottery sits alongside two-dimensional painting and drawings and funky candle options at this tiny little gift store. Besides being one of the first places I stop when I need a fairly inexpensive, artsy house wares gift, it's also a good place to check out for jewelry. The small cases in the back hold a variety of area artists' works, many of whom will also make pieces to order.
