Editorial Review for Metropolitan Deluxe – by Ginger Massey
The Scene
A kleptomaniac's playground and a claustrophobe's nightmare. Trendy knick-knacks and small frills spill over shelves and tables on the main floor. If tight spaces--or the thought of breaking something--makes you nervous, head straight downstairs to the quieter, roomier home furnishings area.
The Goods
Upstairs is a selection of gift ideas: greeting cards, coffee table books, candles, scented lotions, picture frames, refrigerator magnets, glass wear, leather-bound journals and all the latest Secret Santa-type gizmos. Also included is a small but high-quality fresh flower selection. High-end furnishings--beds, night tables, shower curtains, bath mats, sheets, decorative pillows--are downstairs.

We ordered furniture on May 31, with a (they said) pessimistic shipping date of July 21. We are now September 26 and no shipping in sight. Calls are not answered, emails are not answered, when we do talk to store employees or managers they range between indifferent and outright rude and when we called the factory, we found out the furniture is ready for shipment. MD, for some reason, just does not want to give the go ahead. Looks like we'll never see either the couch or our money back... Avoid!

I know they have very groovy looking, well made furniture, but you would be doing yourself a service to find that stylin' piece somewhere else! We have bought furniture from them twice, thinking that the first time we had a bad experience was a fluke. NOT SO! The first time, they charged our card twice for the entire furniture order, resulting in a big hassle canceling the extra charge and resulting fees. The next time, not only did the chair take about 6 weeks longer than they said it would take to come in, they continuously mixed up our order with other people's. They called us and told us to come pick up our chairs, plural, when we had only ordered one. When we arranged to have my in-laws bring their truck to help us pick it up, they told us the two chairs they had gotten in were for someone else. This was followed by about 3 weeks of them not knowing where the chair was and calling us daily to say so. When it finally came in, they let me pick it up without checking any ID, or even asking my name. After we picked it up, they called for about two weeks saying our chairs (plural again) had come in. THEN, when they were supposed to charge the second half of the price of the chair to our credit card, they charged twice! AGAIN. And twice we had employees tell us they heard this sort of thing from customers all the time. And it is nearly impossible to get in touch with the only guy who supposedly knows what is going on. So, be warned!
Pros: good quality furniture, nice flower shop and gifts
Cons: terrible furniture ordering systerm & customer service, no one knows what is going on
