“The food is good (try the pita pizza) and the service is fun.”
“really like The Local good food good drinks and polite.”
“Good food.”
“The menu is decent (I like the burger a lot) and there's an impressive drink selection as well.”
“great local place”
“The staff is friendly, the ribs are great, and the jukebox rocks.”
“My favorite are the lemon pepper chicken wings - huge pieces of meat, rolled in flavorful spices, smoked and flash fried so they're falling off the bone AND crispy.”
“Atlanta is pretty poor on the BBQ-i personally like pulled pork sandwiches and, although they can't compete with slow roasted, hickory and oak smoked BBQ from N. Tennessee, it comes pretty damn close!”
Yum beer. one of my favorite places for outdoor drinking. the porch is fantastic and the free popcorn isn't too bad! they recently changed their menu and I've tried all of the chicken sandwiches- go with the jerked chicken
Ponce Headquarters. This hangout on the heartbeat of Ponce de Leon serves as a headquarters for tastemakers, hipsters, bike nerds, comic nerds, Emory nerds, and just any all around Poncey character. They tore the wall down that separated the back and main room, and the regulars acted as if they took Jeff Davis off Stone Mnt. But the place is much more an open space, and seemingly more open for Ponce outsiders to check out.
Well named.
I really like this place. The deck is the place to be on a warm evening when the neighborhood gets interesting. The biggest surprise is how good the food is. The place comes off as a drinking establishment, but it is a really good restaurant as well. I'm a big Bar BQ fan, and they have really good Cue. I particularly like the half chicken, but the pork is very good as well. The sides are ample and tasty; I particularly like the fried zuchinni and the tater tots.
The wait staff has been friendly, helpful and efficient every time I've been there. If you like your waitresses without tattoos, this may not be the place for you.
Situated along Ponce de Leon Ave, you get a full dose of urban exposure in an interesting part of the city.
My only complaint is that I always sit outside on the deck, and so do all the smokers. I wish they would take their habit somewhere that I'm not eating.
Best Chicken Wings in Atlanta.
Once you start going to the Local, it's sort of hard to stop. Steve, Grant and Kerri take such good care of you - why would you ever go anywhere else??
The most surprising thing about this Ponce de Leon staple is probably the food - order anything barbecue related and you will not be disappointed. My favorite are the lemon pepper chicken wings - huge pieces of meat, rolled in flavorful spices, smoked and flash fried so they're falling off the bone AND crispy. Miraculous!
The recently refurbished porch is great for big groups in the spring and summer, and the juke box can play any song you could ever want! (No seriously, it's an internet jukebox.)
Tater tots.... I have no idea why, but they have the best tater tots of all time. Also a decent salad and black bean burger. It looks like such a dive I couldn't believe they even had vegetables on the menu. That being said, I wouldn't recommend it to Buckhead folks.
SNOOTY PEOPLE.
customers snobby not fun at all wont ever return there again
food was ok beer mugs were HOT
funny watching the bums
Where everyone knows your name.. This is by far the best bar in Atlanta. Grant is a master at his craft and the food is fantastic. You can enjoy a night of trivia or just disappear to the back for some great pinball and darts.
great local place.
Found this bar over the summer. My summer of walking. Great bar food and good list of well priced beers. good with groups and for being on Ponce, a great front porch feel
The crowd is friendly and the place lives up to the name
Good Food, Good Conversation, Lot o PBR. This is a fun bar. It's a down to earth bar with very little Buckhead style conversation. The bartenders have been around for a while and you never know where a conversation might end up. The jam packed night is wed for trivia so if you like that kind of thing then this is your night. Good food. Go there and drink.
fun place. I really like The Local good food good drinks and polite. Trivia night is the best in town. It's much more fun, comfortable and classy than there neighbor across the street.
