Tips for Surin Of Thailand

I like the food here but I always get take out. The ceiling is tin (metal) and it is therefore crazy loud in there. Who wants to eat delicious Thai food in what sounds like a football stadium? My stress level shoots up when I enter that place due to the noise level. An acoustical engineer could easily solve the problem. Harry & Sons next door has the same food (same exact dishes) so that's an option if you can't get into Surin.

Mediocre at Best. Had dinner there last night, 3/21. Shrimp Coconut Soup: Coconut water, sugar, shrimp and fresh mushrooms in hot pot, mild flavor, not special, temp. warm and fire in hot pot died quickly. Chicken Satay: dry, tasted like processed chicken. Wing of Angel: Have you ever had batter-dipped chicken that was refried? Very oily, no flavor. Shu She Salmon: Dry, veggies fresh, but too much sauce. Shrimp Thai Noodle: Too much sugar. All in all, too much sugar, temp. on all dishes, except wings, warm not hot, very little flavor. Would have sent the wings back, but did not want to make a fuss since it was my friend's birthday. Great location. Service: waiter nice, but he did forgot our wings stating that HE thought it was "too much food." Not his decision to make! My friend had never had Thai and I wanted him to sample several different dishes and have enough to take for lunch next day. Needless to say, my friend did not. He was very polite, but did not finish all his food. Waiter was apologetic and I left $10.00 tip on $52.00 bill because he was the waiter, not the cook. Will not return! I have had Thai in LA and San Francisco and have had better from the small, stand-in-line, mom/pop restaurants than here.

Another atlanta regular sounding off......in a good. Another Atlanta staple that I grew up. I'm always a fan, the food is fresh and really good flavor. I havent been in a while but I see that it hasnt lost it's touch from the other locals.

Best thai in ViHi. Went here last night for a first date and it was as good as I remember it being. Of course, you must start with the coconut chicken soup which is absolutely delicious and comes to your table in a big flaming bowl.

It's a little loud and crowded, but luckily we were able to get a table in the corner, so it was quite nice. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken (I know, I know, Michael E. can't you be a bit more adventurous than that?!?!) and enjoyed it very much.

There's a bit of a language barrier with some of the waiters, but I think it adds to the experience. We all figured out what we wanted after pointing to the menu.

This place has been around for a long time and I imagine it will keep going strong for many years. Great place to take out-of-town friends, too.

Great food!! Love it.. I have always received great service, drinks, and food here. The environment is relaxing and romantic. It's not too overdone with decoration and over-the-top design- it's simple with quality. Not too pricey. Also, it is in a good location so that you can visit a good bar or go for a nice walk afterwards. I keep coming back and have never brought someone who was dissatisfied.

Nice Ambience!!!. I love going here after a nice day at the salon. The atmosphere is so relaxing and the food is simply mouth watering. I love the bar be que chicken dish it is to die for!!! I would reccomend this to all who are having a relaxing or hard day to unwind here. But beware of the parking situation it is a little irritating at times.

Yummy!. I love trying new foods and this place is one of the best adventures I have taken my taste buds on!!! Surins is a trendy spot with good food and great drinks. I recommend going early for dinner to avoid large crowds and long waits. The spring rolls are awesome!! Love it!

excellent food and prompt service. I am not a big fan of Thai food in general, but this place was amazing. I found something on the menu that I wanted to modify slightly and the kitchen had no problems making the change and my food was excellent.

BE CAREFUL...IT'S ADDICTIVE!!!!!!!. It was my first experience with Thai food, but it will never be my last! Now, since then, I've been to three other restaurants that like to call what they serve, "Thai" cuisine; however, none of them have come close to Surin of Thailand! I've tried several dishes at this restaurant, and ALL of them have been superb! I've not once been disappointed. Now, I've read that some people were a little disappointed about the wait, but heck, anything that is GREAT is worth waiting for --and this, my friends, is an experience beyond sheer satisfaction! Now personally... I've never waited more than six minutes to be seated. However, that's why I don't eat out on THE BUSIEST NIGHTS OF THE WEEK!!!! ...duh. Now, I have seen long lines on these extremely busy nights, but obvoiusly, the people waiting value excellent food. I don't necessarily like being seated directly adjacent to perfect strangers at those really long tables, but fortunately, the hosts have always accommodated my requests for a private table for two. Well, it's Monday, May 14, 2007, and I'm on my way to enjoy the best Thai food in the "A"!
