“The service was from a very impersonal and lazy server who visited our table only once after we got our food and walked at an extremely slow pace!”

Take a trip down the staircase for a trip to VaHi's place for a steak that won't break the bank
Delicious!. I've been to Highland Tap many times as a customer of the "bar." For once, I decided to stay for dinner. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great. The steak is one of the best I've had in Atlanta, and the appetizer I ordered was so original and so tasty! This was a spur of the moment dinner and will definitely be repeated! I'll be back for more delicious steaks and more enjoyable experiences. From what I hear, the brunch is the best deal in town. That will be my next adventure. Make sure you put Highland Tap on your list of places to try in Atlanta! Delish!
Still Shakeing & Stirring The Highlands! Excellent Steaks!. The Tap is still tops in our book for the pefect Martini/Steak, in town. We love the cozy vibe, being in the cellar of an old retail block, at the corner of Virginia and Highland. The bartenders are masters of mixology. We just usually start at the bar with our Dirty Grey's up. Grab some of that wonderful Crab Dip, and leave the stress of the day behind. All the servers know us by name, and it's like seeing old friends. The filets, are some of the best in the city, along side the lettuce wedge, with their framous Bleu Cheese dressing. And get a side of the Onion Rings. This place is just a reliable standard.
BEST escargot and Bloody Marys!. Every time I am in the Highlands I always stop by the Tap for their incredible escargot, crab dip and Bloody Marys! I've never had escargot like theirs before, instead of being this slippery mess, its prepared with cheese and a puff pastry and it is to die for! I would also recomend the crab dip and prime rib! They have GREAT bloody mary's, they make their mix from scratch and even rim the glass with seasoned salt. Puts me in heaven!
Avoid Escargot. Go For Drinks, Steak..
About the escargot: They aren't traditional escargot with garlic-parsley butter, but instead are smothered in cheese and topped with a puff pastry (bleh). The menu does nothing to indicate the switch.
Otherwise, the atmosphere is great and the steaks and hamburgers are tasty.
Steaks and singles mingle in a polished basement hideaway..
In Short
Half steakhouse, half bar, all underground: There is no better vibe for a cellar-dwelling meat market turned late-night singles den. Classic chops and cocktails are carefully presented to dealing businessmen, while acros the room bar-goers mingle deep into the weekend hours. Clearly more about substance than style, the stony, dark encasing makes you feel like you're in a secret, no-frills club. The steaks at this Virginia Highland institution are what good steaks should be--simple. The lost art of prime rib still reigns here and the Tap steak sandwich is legendary. As the night grows longer, the bar grows more crowded-- mix of curious new neighbors and cougars on the hunt, all sipping a martinis and wishing there was a little left that sidecar.
Awesom. the escargot is to die for as an appetizer and martini's make the mood airy and sexy. cuddles to the tap!!
Yes, a GREAT martini.... can be found at the Highland Tap. We frequent here often. If the place is overly crowded, then the Martini suffers just a little from the hurried bartender. Go during the week, only the Martini Club has better... Also, the food and service has been wonderful on each visit.
Highland's Best. I thought Highland Tap was a great introduction to The Highlands. It was a friend of mine's first time to hang in the Highlands and it was a blast. I love the atmosphere of the bar and the people I met were very friendly.
A Friday Night Oasis!. Excellent Martinis and Manhattans, excellent steaks, excellent appetizers, and impeccable service. A wonderful Friday night experience.
Great for an After Work Drink or Brunch. The Highland Tap is one of the truly versatile restaurant/bars in Atlanta. I enjoy going there for a drink with friends on almost any given night, and also going there for the steak benedict on Sunday morning. It does get very crowded on the weekends, though. However, there were quite a few attractive women hanging out, so that makes it a lot more tolerable.
