Editorial Review for Highland Tap – by Jake Sussman and Erin Behan
The Scene
Half steakhouse, half bar, the Tap is Atlanta's premier underground meat market. Situated squarely at Virginia and North Highland avenues, it anchors the corner's nightlife. After descending the staircase, patrons are greeted by the sight of the large wooden bar and seating at raised booths or floor-level tables. The young, well-heeled and slightly toasted crowd packs in--especially late nights and on weekends--while a somewhat older crowd runs the place during happy hour.
The Draw
Though a bar for all seasons, its stony, cave-like feel makes it Virginia-Highland's best wintertime hideaway. As for the drinks, the Tap's bartenders are famous for their impeccable martini-mixing skills. And who can resist the warm glow that comes when a sidecar is gracefully placed next to your already full martini glass?

Insider Tips
What to DrinkWhile martinis are the specialty, the classic bloody marys--served with salted rim, lime, celery and a pepperoncini--will also put a smile on your face.
When to GoArrive early for the Tap's weekend brunch, served from 11am to 3pm, and avoid the crowds.

I've been to Highland Tap many times as a customer of the "bar." For once, I decided to stay for dinner. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great. The steak is one of the best I've had in Atlanta, and the appetizer I ordered was so original and so tasty! This was a spur of the moment dinner and will definitely be repeated! I'll be back for more delicious steaks and more enjoyable experiences. From what I hear, the brunch is the best deal in town. That will be my next adventure. Make sure you put Highland Tap on your list of places to try in Atlanta! Delish!
Pros: Great service, amazing steaks, overall great experience
Cons: None

The Tap is still tops in our book for the pefect Martini/Steak, in town. We love the cozy vibe, being in the cellar of an old retail block, at the corner of Virginia and Highland. The bartenders are masters of mixology. We just usually start at the bar with our Dirty Grey's up. Grab some of that wonderful Crab Dip, and leave the stress of the day behind. All the servers know us by name, and it's like seeing old friends. The filets, are some of the best in the city, along side the lettuce wedge, with their framous Bleu Cheese dressing. And get a side of the Onion Rings. This place is just a reliable standard.
Pros: Excellent Steaks & Martinin's! Professional Staff!
Cons: Parking could be a problem, if driving!
