Editorial Review for Righteous Room – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
An unlikely strip mall storefront gives way to this perpetually dark, clove cigarette-scented alcoholic underworld that's stocked with do-it-yourself furnishings, a funky bar and a jukebox. A regular spot for after-work drinks and pub grub, it's a mix of folks who spent the summer after their junior year in Breckenridge and Ponce residents.
The Food
Known almost as much as a reliable snacks place as it is a watering hole, the Righteous Room is a nearly perfect continuum of good beer, respectable hard liquor pours and intelligent revisions of the usual bar food offerings. At the heart of the menu are dishes that are just healthy enough but without the kind of tricked-up vegetarian leanings that get in the way of a mildly self-destructive good time. Big winners include the self-proclaimed fatty grilled cheese, the turkey pita and a very respectable burger. The onion straws are fantastic.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoFor the drinkers who demand more: The Righteous Room houses monthly art installments available for sale from local and national artists.
The ExtrasThe bar's atmosphere is perfect for a casual date.
Where to SitHead for the large U-shaped booth in the back. You can squeeze in at least six people, and it's often open even when the bar's crowded.

I was in atlanta for a short weekend and circumstances were odd... my friend took me to the righteous room. it was in a great spot, near a theatre and across the street from a buiding i was told was once owned by al capone...? either way it was trully genuine and appreciative service, delicious food and the best juke box i have had the pleasure to play in a long time... The bathroom walls are strewn with attempted poetry and artwork, something to see. the owner patrick was especially attentive, generous and charming. loved the spot, wish i lived there...

Last night after leaving the Plaza Theater, for my retro movie house fix, we went next door to still one of the coolest little joints in town, with one of the best jukeboxes, anywhere. We ordered a couple of cold ones, from one tatooted out dude, who was just cool and very nice. My fave here always, is the big sloppy grilled cheese, and I have them put a couple of slices of bacon on. Talking about the ultimate comfort food. Cheese, cheese, and more cheese. My buddy had the veggie burger, while turning up his nose at my bacon. But we both got down on those onion straws. Killer jukebox, loudly playing the Righteous Brothers, "You've Lost That Lovin Feelin". And I always loose that feeling, when I walk out the door, of this little hip, cool spot on Ponce!
Pros: Big, Flat, Sloppy Grilled Cheese Sandwich & Killer Juke Box! Hip Service!
Cons: Parking Can Be Tight!
