Editorial Review for Shoemakers' Warehouse – by Julie Douglas

The Scene
Despite its drab appearance and crowded aisles, this store is a bounty of bliss to shoe lovers, male and female. Hundreds of styles by popular designers are stacked in cardboard boxes, marked at a reduced rate. Clearance racks in the back offer even lower prices. Soulful music emanates from the speakers and folding chairs line the walls, providing the weary with a seat. Since Shoemakers' is only open four days a week, it gets packed on the weekends.

The Goods
Styles vary from polished leather pumps to studded stilettos and sporty sneakers. It's a great place to get boots in the winter and strappy sandals in the summer. Some of the brands you can expect to find: Steve Madden, Anne Klein, Nine West, Unlisted, Skechers, Bass, Todd Welsh and Kenneth Cole.

Know Before You Go

Shoemakers' usually beats department store's non-clearance items by $5-$20 for women and up to $40 for men.

The Extras

Don't let the name fool you; an ample selection of stylish and cheap handbags, belts and hosiery are for sale, too.
