No frills, just pure boogie! – Bell bottoms is a cool atmosphere for the late 20's and 30 plus crowd who can appreciate disco and old school hip hop tunes. The club has an upper and lower level for wanderers who like to see every inch of a club. This is no place for snubs or anyone interested in others seeing their designer clothes. This is truely a place for those who want to get their boogie on. Whether dressed in jeans or semi-casual you will feel comfortable among this diverse and care-free crowd. Very inexpensive and straight to the point!
GREAT place - not TOO pretentious - but there are exceptions w/Gen-Xers! – I've heard about it and finally checked it out last night for the first time. Overall, it's a great place. Not too snooty as some places in Atlanta can be (agreement w/previous reviews). The Bell Bottoms theme is starting to become a mis-nomer as Gen-Xers are mostly in attendance. A LOT of 30somethings that enjoy 70's music, but were just toddlers when it was happening - IF they were even born! So the styles changed to 80s & 90s R&B-Hip-Hop which is not as appealing to this 40something- when I want to hear 70s.
The biggest CRIME of the night was the D.J. cutting Marvin Gaye's "Got to Give It Up" short for Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." Disco-Funk D.J. Cardinal sin!
Mostly African-Americans (which I am) were there and a LOT of Nor' Easterners. That is evident by certain 90s tunes played that they respond enthusiastically to. If you get a bunch of yuppy "colored folks" from Jersey & New York in the house, THEN the pretention begins to set in. I had one look at me as to why I had the nerve to even ask her to dance. Girl, I just wanted to have fun, that's all!
But there's generally a great time to be had. As a old school d.j., I give the female on the 1's & 2's an overall B+ as she pleased the crowd. No "A" after the Marvin fiasco! As I said, she pleased the crowd, but I stop short of being totally pleased as we got into the 90's. There were no bell bottoms in the 90s, fer sure!
Excellent social club – I have only been there a couple of times, but the crowd seems to be mature and fun to be around. I dance the whole time I was there. The only time I sat down was to cool off and catch my breathe. I recommend this club to anyone who gets tired of the stiff and stuffy clubs that you have to profile. Go and try it out! You'll love it!
Love this place – I LOVE Bell Bottoms. They have a variety of music throughout the evening - 70s, 80s, and on up. It is a laid back atmosphere so you can come in jeans - none of that pretentious stuff going on here. If you like to dance and you don't want to deal with a crowd that is more interested in who the "prettiest" person is, this is the spot. When I go, I see people of all races on the dance floor having a good time. This is my spot.
Groovy high school reunion for "Saturday Night Fever" junkies and "Electric Slide" professionals. – The Scene
Blacklight posters of mushrooms, VW buses and lava lamps: This dance club is a caricature of the '70s. Flashing stop lights and a disco-ball patio line the perimeter. The interior resembles a fraternity ski lodge, but it's a world where polyester and paisley rule and "Cheech and Chong" plays over and over. A colorful flux of lights projects down on the dance floor's alternating underlit squares, while music jumps from the Jackson 5 to the Bee Gees to Color Me Badd. This is no dark, sexy lounge; it's a "Celebration" in the truest Kool & the Gang sense.
Casually dressed people in their late '20s and '30s (emphasis on the latter) are more interested in sexing it up on the dance floor than checking out the labels on your clothes. On Fridays and Saturdays, the place is packed and beer goggles are in full effect.
70's and 80's Fun – Bell Bottoms is a great change of pace. Great music from the past. DJ did a good job, and the staff was courteous. I recommend this club to anyone looking to have a good time without all of the pretense.
80's Dance Spot!! – Friendly mixed crowd!!...Great dancing to the oldies, 80's...fun place!...nothing fancy, but lots of fun!!
bell bottom – the place i would love to spend my weekend nights dancing on the floor the whole night. i always recommand this club to friends
BORING – Just recently learned the hustle and am looking for a club that has that style of dancing. Thought this was the place but found it was just another "ooga booga" bar with the restless natives wiggling on the dance floor. Found NO 70s music playing. The dance floor was much too crowded for any REAL dancing. Inside the bar is a DIVE also. Went down the street to the Havana Club and found some civilized dancing. Will not return here.
