Atlanta >Beluga Martini Bar
“Very nice and sultry atmosphere with a wonderful mixed crowd.”
“The two Jeffs behind the bar were awesome.”
“read the reviews and it was recommended by a family member as a great place to go to for jazz and a cool environment.”
“The bartenders are great and will make sure that you are introduced around if you are new.”
“The bouncers are very rude, this place is way overpriced, They let professional athletes in FREE!”
Fun and classy spot. I have been searching for a spot to hang out that has great live music and a professional crowd. My friend told me about Beluga since it is really close to where I live and it did not disappoint! Beluga is a great neighborhood spot that has all of the trappings of a friendly neighboorhood bar and an upscale lounge. Very fun and professional crowd who is looking to party and have a good time. Drinks are good and strong, staff is friendly and music is great! Highly recommended!
This is a fun bar. I am not sure about this bar being labeled as a classy martini bar but this bar has a good bands playing good music and nice bartenders, Jeff and Andy. Though, my experience is entirely based on the weekday nights. May be it becomes a classy place on the weekend.
This is a kind of bar you can visit by yourself if you are in town for a business.
Beluga is always consistant. i know when I bring an out of town guest or business client they are sure to have a fun time!. I have been going to Beluga for 8 years and I am one that believes you can tell alot about a bar by their staff turn over. I have known Jeff, Joe, Frank, Sandy,Suzanna and Andy (the bartenders), Billy Allen(owner -girls ...you need to make sure you meet Mr. Allen - you can't miss him! I believe he may still be single too!! ) and Michael ( owner...Very hot also -he is very married ,so sad)....My girlfriends and I have always loved to meet at Beluga because it is not a meat market - hot guys, oh YES...don't think we are not looking. It is just rare to beable to go for a cocktail with the girls and know you are safe, you can be one of the married girls and not have to beat off the men....like alot of these clubs in Atlanta. This bar is very classy and the crowd is also. You do not have the boys with the baseball caps, low rise pants and talking trash - if that is your taste DO NOT go to Beluga. Claiborne (the singer) will remember you and all of the staff at Beluga always has a smile and Joe will have your drink on the bar as he sees you walk in.
Whether I bring clients, friends or my wife, it's alway right! When I travel to many cities and talk to folks who frequent Atlanta, they ALWAYS know and go, to BELUGA. Awesome music, upscale eclectic crowd - no kids!!!
ALways feels like home, no matter where you are from. NIGHT AFTER NIGHT, YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT
Needs A Makeover! Too Smokey & Dark!. It had been several years since I ventured into Beluga, and in it's day, it was really hot. But like most small older Buckheard clubs/.night spots, it really does need a makeover, like many of the patrons. Still has that cozy vibe, but the strong cigar smoke, ruined our drinks. More accent light is needed, as we don't like stepping or sitting on people we don't know. The combo was just getting fired up as we left, but it could not overcome strong aroma of cheap cigars! Nice cocktail server. Fun evening with old friends!
If you can't be romantic here, you're probably hopeless.
Went to Beluga in the late 90s when I was a student at Tech. Definitely beyond my budget (not to mention I was the only college-aged kid there), but it was a great place. The two Jeffs behind the bar were awesome. Frank was a great host. Johnny was always a crowd pleaser.
Spent time in New York, Chicago and London since college days and have seen many bars. Each visit home to Atlanta, I'm never disappointed when I visit Beluga. Been to my fair share of joints, and Beluga ranks with the best. A great bar to end (or begin) a date night. And not a bad spot to talk shop and sports with the guys either.
Nice bartender, Good band, lots of fun.
Beluga was a fun little place that made you feel like you are at a house party.
We had a couple drinks, little dancing, and mingling with locals. We liked the
atmosphere and being from out of town, everyone was really nice and friendly.
Great Entertainment!. If you hate cigarette smoke then you will have a love hate thing with Beluga. This is a smokey hole in the wall that luckily has some incredible entertainment. On some weekends they have this former Las Vegas singer named Claiborne, who is unbelievable. She's sort of a mix between Bette Middler and Liza Minelli. She really gets the crowd going. Her band is equally as good. On occasion she'll have a guest act. One night a guy was singing Sinatra that blew me away. I have never seen this quality of talent anywhere else in Atlanta. In accordance, I only go to Beluga when Claiborne is singing. If you get on her mailing list she will tell you when she is there. She has a website at claibornescorner.com
Buckhead hideaway mixes great martinis for mid-life minglers..
The martinis-and-cigars trend is waning, though you'd never know it navigating these smoky passageways. Beluga is no glamour queen, but shabby-chic trappings like sagging velvet couches and red-fringed lampshades give it a certain boudoir charm. Add to that an inventive martini menu, live jazz and of course, caviar, and you've got the sort of classy joint no old-school Buckheader can resist.
As an attraction, the live music comes behind the martinis, cigars and upper-crust crowd, but the bar does offer one of the best jazz lineups in town. Claiborne's Cabaret has a regular weekend gig, and other local favorites drop in on occasion. The layout of the club isn't ideal for listening to live music, but if you can get a seat close to the baby grand, you're in for a treat.
Great Find In Buckhead. Off the beaten path-- great cocktails, and you can STILL SMOKE a cigar with that scotch on the rocks. Check out their music on the weekends.
