Editorial Review for Beluga Martini Bar – by Florrie Burch
The Scene
The martinis-and-cigars trend is waning, though you'd never know it navigating these smoky passageways. Beluga is no glamour queen, but shabby-chic trappings like sagging velvet couches and red-fringed lampshades give it a certain boudoir charm. Add to that an inventive martini menu, live jazz and of course, caviar, and you've got the sort of classy joint no old-school Buckheader can resist.
The Draw
As an attraction, the live music comes behind the martinis, cigars and upper-crust crowd, but the bar does offer one of the best jazz lineups in town. Claiborne's Cabaret has a regular weekend gig, and other local favorites drop in on occasion. The layout of the club isn't ideal for listening to live music, but if you can get a seat close to the baby grand, you're in for a treat.

Insider Tips
Look GoodThe dress code is a little sophisticated, a little sexy. Jeans and sneakers are out--this is a classy joint.
Save MoneyThere is no cover during the week. On the weekends you pay to get in, unless you have a Beluga VIP card.

In response to Tattlehaters review. I have meet Andi and Jeff and have been a patron of Beluga for many years. The service has always been excellent and proffesional. Every time I have clients in town I bring them straight to Beluga. I am positive any one asked to leave the establishment was well justified. Keep the up the good work Andi and Jeff see you soon.

Last august, a large group of friends from the bar industry including myself went to Beluga. We had a great time. We all laughed, drank, and tipped well. I tried to return with my friend and I was refused service. Why? a friend of Andi the waitress and I do not get along. I never said anything to her. I was drinking bottled water and not there to cause drama. I was simply out with a friend. People can and do try to go on with their lives. I left without incident but it was really embarassing. My friend was shocked. If I had done something to her or another staff member or created a problem on the property or even tried to talk to her- I could understand- because you do not get along with a FRIEND of a staff member who is not on or near the property is no reason to refuse service. This is simply immaturity and petty behavior by a group of bullies. This server needs to grow up and her boss, Jeff, should have made it clear that if I was not TALKING to her, about her or trying to distract her from her job, there was not reason to ask me to leave. I have worked in the hospitality industry over 20 years and there are plenty of people I do not like, but professionalism is important. Obviously, the staff could use a refresher course in this area. Dooie, my previous experience was great too. I went back with a friend- who was celebrating her birthday. Because these individuals are friends with someone who I have an EXTREMELY bitter dispute they asked me to leave. Because someone in the bar industry does not like you- Do you divide the bars in the city? Run a fence down the middle of town? You grow up and move on. I do still live in this town and if I am not bothering them- then I should have the right to be treated with respect and dignity just like any other person who walks in the door. If a bartender down the road dislikes you- should you be barred from every club? I maintain they were petty and immature. I caused no problems on their property.
