The Scene
This antebellum mansion, with its lovely gardens, numerous dining rooms and authentic furnishings, is unexpected off congested Piedmont Road. Anthony's builds its reputation around private parties and holiday meals, but several rooms, including the glass-enclosed porch, are appointed for a la carte dining. Service is knowledgeable and polished.
The Food
Anthony's serves traditional favorites with regional touches and the menu is marked with thoughtful pairings. Citrus-crossed crab cakes are savory and rich with meat. Golden raisins and curry vinaigrette charge the baby spinach salad with flavor and aroma; cognac-spiked bisque poured over tender lobster claw is another tangy starter. Dayboat grouper is buttery and flaky, but the taste of lobster in the smooth mashed potatoes isn't distinct. Other favorites: the filet mignon and veal scaloppini. Creamy creme brulee tops the desserts. Wines are expertly chosen.

The atmosphere of old southern living, very cozy dining experience, only one thing missing, small portions of vegetables, SO not southern. The food was very good, just not enough for the money. The experience was great, very warm, cozy and good conversation about the old homestead. Service was nice, elegant decore. Being a native Atlanta, and very southern, discouraging that our southern tradition falls at the table with portions.

I went to this restaurant a few days ago and found it to not just be a place for good food, but a dining "experience". The service and food were great. The vegetables were fresh and I usually don't get fresh vegetables at restaurants. I just loved the steak and seafood entree. While I understand the previous reviewer has his opinion, I did not see it the same as he/she did. Not sure where they were coming from... I'd definately recommend this place to everyone. It's great food, great service and you will get a history lesson if you ask for the tour. This is old southern dining with charm and grace.

First off I want to say that dining out is my wife and my hobby. We have consistantly gone out to nice dinners 2-3 times a week for the past 5 years in Atlanta so we've been just about everywhere. This was by far the worst "nice" resaurant we've ever been to (It is such a shame too because the actual building and grounds are georgous). From the Ceasar Salad that looked like a kit salad, to the wrong kind of liquor that we ordered in our drinks (and not telling us about it), to the previously frozen seafood that we were served, to the store bought terrible cheesecake that they brought us, it was just laughable. They serve wedding food, and every plate that comes to the table looks the exact same with the exact same sides and sauces. Please do not recommend this restaurant to any friends or family, I beg you for the sake of your relationship with them. You can spend the same amount of money and go to a fabulous steakhouse (Rathbun's Steak and Chops are my personal favorites) or to Bacchanalia or something. Anywhere but here!
