THE ABSOLUTE WORSE EVER
by Global44
THIS PLACE IS ONLY FOR THE DESPARATE. JUST AWFUL. THE SHIMRP SAAG AND CHICKEN MASALA, THE GARLIC NAAN BREAD, THE APETIZERS, ALL TERRIABLE. EVEN THE MANGO JUICE WAS BAD. NEVER AGAIN. WE DROVE FROM DULUTH BECAUSE POONA WAS NOT OPEN YET. HUGE MISTAKE.
POONA ON PLEASANT HILL IS 10xS BETTER..
skip the lunch special

I had lunch here the other day, and to be honest, it was mainly the $7.99 special that caught my attention. Don't bother! You get what you pay for. The lunch special came with some type of nondescript soup. I honestly can't tell you what it was, but it had veggies in it. I chose the lamb kebab for entree (there are 10 or so to choose from) and was sadly dissapointed. The plate came with a pear sized samosa, that had just about 2 tablespoons of potato stuffing in it, a pile of recycled frozen veggies from last night's dinner with a little curry sauce and the kebab...two pieces of overcooked lamb burger the smaller than breakfast sausages. The nan was so greasy it was inedible. My rice pudding dessert was slammed onto the table five minutes after the meal arrived, so I knew they were done with me.
The best part of the meal was the order of papadams I began with...the two chutneys served with them were delightful...I was so hopeful for the rest of the meal, but sadly disappointed!
Funny thing-there was a woman sitting behind me from Creative Loafing...she went on and on about how good her meal was...I had to wonder if we were eating in the same restaurant, or had she never had Indian food before?
- Pros: nice looking place, must be better at dinner to have been around 30 years
- Cons: lunch specials are horrid, entrance is dodgy from Peachtree unless you head to the mall
only go there if desperate !

i am indian myself and would never do anything to hurt a countryman of mine's business but these folks just have it all wrong ! i went there excited as can be and the only thing of taste was the beer ~ kingfisher and it tastes the same everywhere you go ! and the ice cream but you can't get full off of that !
we ordered the appetizers and 1/2 were burnt, the waiter did replace them but the subsequent ones werent that much better :( the rice was so-so and the kabobs not overly tasty. the icecream was indeed a winner but the lack of homestyle chai masala tea was disappointing and frustrating to an indian wanting a sip of home
i would say go there only if desperate
the servers were pleasant and eager to meet our needs and request. too bad the chef lacked the most basic skills.....
my friend i dined with was a white dude and clueless as to what the food should taste like.....
i guess being indian msyelf i have higher expections .
- Pros: ice cream is delicious and decent selection of beer and wine !
- Cons: food - food -food - food - food -food GET IT ??????
