Jalisco is our family's favorite spur-of-the moment Mexican restaurant. The staff is renowned for outreach to children and families. The food is great! My family teases me for rarely changing from my standard order of #13 (burrito, enchilada, and chile relleno.) Generous chips and salsa go even better with cheese dip, with or without jalapeno peppers. Guacomole is great. Sopapillas are a special dessert treat. This is the Mexican restaurant I grew up on, along with a host of folks who chose to make little brass memorials at their booth or seat. Tell 'em I sent you!

Run don't walk 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!!. I absolutely love Jalisco's. I ate there at least once per week when I lived in Georgia. Currently I reside in Michigan but I tell anyone traveling to Atlanta to be sure and eat at Jalisco while visiting the city. I've not had an enchildad as good as there anywhere to date!

Simple, fast, good. Jalisco is a great restaurant with fast service and good food. It is very popular with Buckhead families that want a nice, quick place to eat with their kids after sports practice and school. That being said, if you're coming here to have a long meal that is dependent on atmosphere and impeccable service, you probably won't be satisfied. The service is lightning fast and the food is quality.

Go to Jalisco for a good, fast meal any night of the week, and order the cheese dip; it's famous and for good reason.

I won't go back again. I feel bad posting this review here, but I know I utilize this site for honet feedback about the experience. I will start on the positive and say that it is convenient location if you live in the area. The service is what you would expect from a little place like this. There are a ton of children and teenagers who are at the age they can go out by themselves and their parents pick them up. So it can be very noisy.

I went a couple nights ago and had a beef taco and cheese enchilda plate with beans and rice. Sour cream on the side. It tasted okay but at 4:30 in the morning I became very sick for three hours. I spoke with my Dr and she said it definitely sounds like it was exposure to contaminated food as the symptoms came on fast and lasted a short period of time. I have no history of stomach problems so this is highly unusual.

So, I am not saying this is a bad place, but i would recommend looking into their city cleanliness rating. The service is very fast and lots of wait staff running around and that can create situations for food to be exposed to bacteria. As well, I am not sure how well they clean their tables, or if they even do.

Buckhead Mexican spot that's been getting it right for years. In Short

Americanized-chains dot the suburban landscape, each magically delivering the exact same “#1 combination dinner” no matter the restaurant. Within the city limits, Mexican street fare (tacos, tortas, empanadas) have become increasingly popular among the food-obsessed. Lodged somewhere between the two is Jalisco, one of Atlanta’s oldest Mexican haunts. Sure, their lunch special is a Speedy Gonzalez, and yes, their tacos are of the cheese-crammed, crunchy variety, but who cares? It’s damn good. Rather than being smothered in cheese, beef burritos come topped in a light tomato sauce, letting the seasoned beef steal the show. Even the sides shine: rice is super-fluffy and it’s obvious the beans have plenty of fat in them (read: good). With an endearing space and friendly service, it’s everything an Americanized place is supposed to be: good enough to appease the food critics but simple enough to be an exciting introduction to the cuisine.

My favorite restaurant. It is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the city. The chalupas and the burrito especial are my favorite entrees. Don't miss the cheese dip. My fiance and I went here on our first date and he is a loyal customer as well. They keep the chips coming, work the (sometimes a bit long) line very quickly, and the food is fabulous. Love this family owned gem.

Salsa that Punches You IN THE FACE!. All you need to know about this place is the salsa is delicious (and badass spicy) and the food hits the spot if you're craving mexican food.

You can read below to the reviews below that nitpicks the service, the wait time, and the lack of margaritas if you want but why? It's all contradictory. The service is "bad" because they try to get people in and out so the "wait" isn't that long. You don't have to let them rush you. And so what if the check is put in front of you before you're done eating - I, personally, like having it right there when I scrape off the last bit of the delicious salsa from the bowl and am ready to go. But that might just be me. You may like trying to flag down busy servers asking for your check (as they try to rush people in and out of their dinners).

The Waffle House of Mexican. I know this place has been here for 29 years so they must be doing something right.... but the service is horrible. I like to eat my food and possibly order another drink before the check is put in front of me (it practically came with the delivery of the food). The server never returned to the table after that ... not even to bus the dirty plates we were finished with. The food is okay.. but I much prefer El Azteca just down the street and not in a strip mall. Not worth the 30 min wait to get in.

Edible food but horrible service. The food was okay, nothing special just average. I've had better food at chain Mexican places such as On the Border, El Azteca, Rio Grande, etc. They do not serve margaritas! What kind of mexican restaurant doesn't serve margaritas?! The service was awful! We ordered the queso dip and asked for NO jalepnos, it comes out with tons of jalepenos. My husband ordered a Modelo Negro, the server brought out a Dos Equis. The server dropped the food, two minutes later came to check on us, dropped the check (two minutes after we got our food) and never returned! Never came back to see if we needed another round of drinks, desert, or even to bus a dish! We will never go back.

Food gets Two Thumbs Down, good service though. As I read the other reviews I can't help think, "Are we talking about the same place??" I ate here once and could hardly finish the meal. The food is horrible! I tried it again despite my first experience thinking I went on a bad night so I'd give it another try, but the food was even worse. The service is good and so is the beer. You can't mess up beer, by the way, they don't have a liquor license so margaritas aren't available. I would need a few of these to get through my next meal. I really can't comprehend why this place is so crowded. People are drawn to crowds and some how, the crowd has brainwashed their customers taste buds. I'm sorry to give such a harsh review, but basically, the food is not good. I won't be returning unless the kitchen steps it up, a lot.
