In Short Americanized-chains dot the suburban landscape, each magically delivering the exact same “#1 combination dinner” no matter the restaurant. Within the city limits, Mexican street fare (tacos, tortas, empanadas) have become increasingly popular among the food-obsessed. Lodged somewhere between the two is Jalisco, one of Atlanta’s oldest Mexican haunts. Sure, their lunch special is a Speedy Gonzalez, and yes, their tacos are of the cheese-crammed, crunchy variety, but who cares? It’s damn good. Rather than being smothered in cheese, beef burritos come topped in a light tomato sauce,…
I won't go back again

I feel bad posting this review here, but I know I utilize this site for honet feedback about the experience. I will start on the positive and say that it is convenient location if you live in the area. The service is what you would expect from a little place like this. There are a ton of children and teenagers who are at the age they can go out by themselves and their parents pick them up. So it can be very noisy.
I went a couple nights ago and had a beef taco and cheese enchilda plate with beans and rice. Sour cream on the side. It tasted okay but at 4:30 in the morning I became very sick for three hours. I spoke with my Dr and she said it definitely sounds like it was exposure to contaminated food as the symptoms came on fast and lasted a short period of time. I have no history of stomach problems so this is highly unusual.
So, I am not saying this is a bad place, but i would recommend looking into their city cleanliness rating. The service is very fast and lots of wait staff running around and that can create situations for food to be exposed to bacteria. As well, I am not sure how well they clean their tables, or if they even do.
- Pros: easy parking
- Cons: children and teenagers
My favorite restaurant
by localatl
It is by far the best Mexican restaurant in the city. The chalupas and the burrito especial are my favorite entrees. Don't miss the cheese dip. My fiance and I went here on our first date and he is a loyal customer as well. They keep the chips coming, work the (sometimes a bit long) line very quickly, and the food is fabulous. Love this family owned gem.
- Pros: Cheese dip
- Cons: Sometimes you have to wait and it will be outside
Salsa that Punches You IN THE FACE!

All you need to know about this place is the salsa is delicious (and badass spicy) and the food hits the spot if you're craving mexican food.
You can read below to the reviews below that nitpicks the service, the wait time, and the lack of margaritas if you want but why? It's all contradictory. The service is "bad" because they try to get people in and out so the "wait" isn't that long. You don't have to let them rush you. And so what if the check is put in front of you before you're done eating - I, personally, like having it right there when I scrape off the last bit of the delicious salsa from the bowl and am ready to go. But that might just be me. You may like trying to flag down busy servers asking for your check (as they try to rush people in and out of their dinners).
- Pros: Deliciously Spicy Salsa
- Cons: Can be crowded, have bad service, and a long wait - but name a good, small restaurant that doesnt.
