What People Are Saying About Atlanta Fish Market

In Short – You can't miss the dramatic 65-foot copper fish sculpture that doubles as a welcome wagon. Inside, the roar of voices, a jewel-case display of fresh fish, soaring ceilings, Cadillac-size booths and a massive mural of Atlanta luminaries set the scene at this popular Buckhead restaurant. There's an enclosed bar and private dining, but the action takes place in a large, multilevel room with tile floors and huge chandeliers. AFM's rigorous standards for seafood pay off throughout the entire menu. For starters, try the raw oysters, stone crab claws, thinly battered baby lobster…

Editor's Tips

Look Good:
Save room for the killer coconut cake.
Parking:
As with most Buckhead Life Group restaurants, valet is the best parking option.
ambiance
75.0% positive
  1. nice ambiance throughout the restaurant.
  2. The atmosphere is perfect, fun and airy but also quiet enough to enjoy your conversation.
  3. The big open restaurant provides a nice atmosphere.
  4. The atmosphere of the place was just terrible, there was no ambience.
  5. Definitely not a romantic restaurant, they packed so many people in there to maximize profit that all you could hear was a mixture of conversations & the clanking of plates and cutlery (i felt like I was in a mall food court).
  6. My waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was nice.
  7. terrible atmosphere & seating.
  8. Tables are put together so it looks like a cafeteria, not a romantic restaurant.
dessert
83.33000183105469% positive
  1. To top it off they messed up an expensive cake!
  2. Had the shrimp cocktail for starters, broiled seafood platter, and for dessert crem buella (No idea how to spell that one) Jason was our server and he did a fantastic job, I would recommend this place to anyone.
  3. Everything was great from the appetizers all the way to deserts.
  4. The experience couldn't have been better--the service was efficient and friendly, the room was elegant and the food was tasty (desserts were the lowlight, but I was stuffed by then anyway).
  5. The chowder is very good and the bread pudding for desert is on of the best in town.
  6. The stuffed flounder and the crab cakes are my absolute favorite and sho.
drinks
72.7299976348877% positive
  1. to start the waitress we had was not attentive, she did not come back to the table to check to see if we when needed anything, to check on how our food tasted, she didn't ask if we needed refills on drinks.
  2. The drinks are good as well.
  3. Their raw bar was also very good, as I had 1/2 dozen clams which are not easy to get in Atlanta.
  4. The service was pretty decent as far as the pace of the courses and drink refills, but our server stopped by a few times to casually chat while we were eating our food.
  5. The drink I had ordered was not prepared as described on the menu, yet again, I was charged full fare.
  6. Their bar is a nice alternative place to eat if smoking and drinking is also on your agenda.
  7. They make great alcolohic drinks too.
  8. Normally my friend and I sit in a booth at the bar and are spoiled with attentive service and the very freshest fish.
  9. Instead of comping our whole meal (which was virtually ruined by a disgusting main entree), the manager merely removed our lobsters but left the appetizer and drinks on our bill.
  10. Our service was great but don't cry if you have to wait 5 minutes on your drinks on a Friday night.
  11. The manager is very rude to people he works with including employees and wine/food sales people.

  6. The food here is awesome.
  7. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe I just have the luxury of knowing what seafood is supposed to taste like when you are not land locked, but this place is completely overrated and overpriced to me.
  8. to start the waitress we had was not attentive, she did not come back to the table to check to see if we when needed anything, to check on how our food tasted, she didn't ask if we needed refills on drinks.

  17. After living in atlanta for 6 years I finally had dinner at the big copper fish.

  19. Anyone who thinks the seafood is good here has limited experience eating "decent", much along good seafood.
  20. Everything is fresh and the food is the most inventive, innovative and exciting I've had in a long time.
  21. and the disappointing food was very very overpriced
  22. would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an enjoyable evening of seafood.
  23. the spinch was very bland, as if they warmed frozen spinach up in the micrwave, the whipped sweet potatoes were ok, I tried the fried lobster tail (appetizer menu) Was not good at all!
  24. The bottom line is you go here for great fresh seafood when you have some time to kill and can relax with people you enjoy talking to.
  25. Quickly flash fried and served with a great sauce.

  51. Big fish gets hooked.
  52. The biggest disappointment was having a horrible meal on a 3 day visit to a city with soooo many great restaurants to offer.

Great Food; Execellent Service; Lackluster Ambiance

by Jewel06

The food at AFM is delicious. I had a chilean sea bass and salmon combo and my wife had the surf and turf special.

The service was excellent as well. When I made the reservation I told them it was my wife's birthday, and several times throughout the evening the staff would wish her a happy birthday. They even brought out a free dessert for her.

Our only issue was the ambiance. If you are looking for a romantic dinner, this is not the place. The atmosphere was akin to a food court environment, and the decor was abysmal and out-dated.

So as long as you don't really care about a romantic environment, we recommend Atlanta Fish Market.

Delicious food, from the Fish Market Hot Tower appetizer to the Blackened Atlantic Salmon (awesome!), AFM "Chopped Salad", Black Grouper, wine, and dessert... combined with spectacular service and excellent atmosphere!

Everything together created a perfect background for an enjoyable time for our whole group!

Full and Satisfied

by atlgurl

love love love this place! I have been about 5 times and always leave filled to capacity. The yummi yummi sushi rolls are the BEST! please try them on your visit. The entrees have never disappoointed and the servers are always attentive. If u make a reservation before 9 there is no wait even on a saturday. The tables in the back are extremely small though; the server had to shift things around just to make room. But other than that I love the place! Be careful; it can get pricey. We always end up paying at least $80 for two people not including tip.

  • Pros: Yummi Yummi Sushi Roll is a MUST!
  • Cons: small tables
