Editorial Review for Rosa's Pizza – by Erin Behan and Jillian St. Charles

The Scene
Atlanta's lunch-focused Fairlie-Poplar district draws crowds to Rosa's. The less-than-$5 meals certainly attract Georgia State students, bike messengers and business folk to the no-frills counter, but it's the authentic New York-style pizza that makes this place a lunchtime standard. Lines quickly wrap outside the small storefront and brisk pizza pushers keep things moving, but getting a table during lunch rush hours can be near impossible.

The Food

Rosa's brings the secrets of genuine New York pizza to the South. Generous mounds of fresh meats, veggies and a healthy layer of mozzarella top each slice. The golden crust--crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside--seals the deal. For heavenly--and heavier--eating, add the spicy sausage. Non-pizza entrees are just as filling. Calzones tend to be doughy, so opt instead for a hearty meatball sub or a hefty portion of lasagna, covered with garlicky meat sauce.

The Extras

Order a half ($35) or whole tray ($65) of lasagna and feed the whole family. Rosa's will deliver to places within walking distance of the restaurant.

Where to Sit

Head to the back, where you'll find stairs to additional seating below the Healey building. Or, get your pizza to go and head a block over to Woodruff Park.

What to Drink

Rosa's Italian ice treats offer a cool alternative to the coffee break.

1 slice of spinach, 1 slice of mushroom, and I am good to go. This is my favorite pizza in the city. I don't eat pork, but tomatoes, onions or even sun dried tomatoes all make for a pleasant pizza eating experience. Even with a crowded lunch line wrapped around the whole store and down the stairs, the ordering process is different , but finely tuned to get you in and out. Next!!! Price is cool, store is old but relatively clean. Rosa's is my spot.

Pros: Great pizza, quick

Cons: No weekends, and closes at 6pm

Going to Gsu, eating down town in between classes is hard. Growing up in Long Island. I know real pizza. There pizza is good. But, When I see an employee sneeze and not wash his hands and contunue to make pizza. Makes me want to run as fast as I can from this place.
