Good Food, Somewhat Expensive Though....
Just happened to be downtown looking for seafood type place and walked in.
The service was excellent and the food for the most part was good. The sushi was excellent, however some of the other dishes (calamari in particular) were not what we had in mind....
Also somewhat expensive......
OK, not outstanding sushi.
Were here during DragonCon, happy to get a table (though we were stuck in a very remote/awkward corner). I had read what sounded like some interesting rolls listed on their website menu and asked for a sushi menu when we were seated but only ever got the regular dinner menu (despite seeing others seated around us eating specialty rolls...so it was not that they had been taken off the menu for Dragon*Con). Whatever, we stuck with a shared fried calamari appetizer (pretty good) and chirashi and sushi plates. Fish tasted fine, although the chirashi was heavy on cheap elements: tamago, fake crab, etc. Nothing to really make it stand out.
Overall I'd give the place an ok rating but not really destination dining.
Great service. I came here to eat with my boyfriend on his lunch break. The server was very knowledgeable because I don't know much about sushi. The food was delicious and I enjoyed the view from the patio. I would definitely come eat here again!
Overpriced for Lackluster Food. Went to Pacific Rim with a group of friends in town and we were all disappointed. First off the restaurant smelled of old fish when we walked in. Then the server treated us with no respect and ignored our table. We think it was because they include tips for parties of 6 or more and he knew he would be getting a tip no matter how he treated us. As far as the food it was very ordinary and overpriced. There are too many great restaurants in Atlanta to waste your money on Pacific Rim.
Would Not Return.
My boyfriend and I dined here during the 2007 Atlanta Restaurant Week. We eat Asian food regularly and thought this would be a great place to return to. This was our 2nd time dining @ Pacific Rim so I expected it to be pretty good like the previous time. However, this time was a little different. Everything we were served was horrible.
To begin the spring rolls were pretty tasty, and the dipping sauce was delicious. However, the crawfish sushi rolls were mediocre, and you could probably get better at a lower price joint like RuSans. We also had to wait a while before receiving any utensils & napkins.
For Entrees we had the Wasabi Blue Cheese Filet Medallion and Salmon with Teriyaki Sauce and the Ground Kobe Sirloin Steak. The Surf & Turf was also nothing special, both the salmon and steak were really cold. The only thing that was right was the way the steak was cooked (Med) however, the cheese on top of the steak was the worst part- upon biting my steak I just could not finish eating it because it tasted so bad. The vegetables on the dish were edible. The Ground Kobe steak was nothing more than meatloaf dipped in soy sauce. Both of us did not finish our meals. On top of that they forgot to bring out our dessert, by the time the server realized this we got stale Tempura Chocolate Crispies (Chocolate and Banana Wrapped in Spring Roll Skin, Tempura Fried and Served with Raspberry Sauce) which we thought should be superb considering all our other mishaps, yet was also equally disappointing. The only thing that tasted good on this dish was the mango and tropical fruit salad. As for the bad service, 20% gratuity is already added. It may seem like a good deal ($25 for 3 dishes per person) but it is more of a rip off, and instead of Pacific Rim showcasing some of their best food, which should make people return, they definitely lost, and it seems as if they gave us their worst scraps from the kitchen.
The BEST. I come here often for lunch. I most always get the sushi which is always delicious. The combo sushi plates are great. The curry chicken is also wonderful if sushi is not for you.
Great Lunch in Downtown Atlanta!. This restaurant in the ultra-modern portion of Peachtree Center is a must. The hip interior, with floor to ceiling windows, invites you in. This is Asian-Fusion at its best. Favorite lunch item is the Bento Box, which includes sushi, tempura, and salad with great ginger dressing. Service is sharp and fast. The hostess is very kind, and I always stop here when I'm DT. on business!
A Favorite!. This has to be one of my favorite places to get sushi. Great service; the food takes a bit but I've always been there with a large group so thats to be expected.
not what we expected. we started off the meal with a handshake from our waiter (major etiquette faux pas). the sushi was average, and the miso soup was bizarre (extra ingredients than the traditional and which contributed nothing). the staff and manager were very polite to us when we sent back the chilean sea bass-- it had no flavor and seemed undercooked in the middle. we hear that this is not a typical experience at the restaurant but we were very dissapointed. if you're into spicy rolls, the crunchy roll is very good.
great food, service.. I will eat at this restaurant again. The friendly staff, service and good food. UNBEATABLE
