Editorial Review for Pittypat's Porch – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
More Hollywood recreation than authentic Southern, this downtown mainstay caters to a mostly un-Southern convention crowd. Hostesses don antebellum dress; tuxedo-clad servers welcome diners to the restaurant and to Atlanta. Inside, a line of comfy rocking chairs encourages diners to sit for a spell, while farm and kitchen implements decorating the walls create a rustic feel.
The Food
Based on the recipes of Scarlett O'Hara's Aunt Pittypat, the menu offers dishes like Twelve Oaks BBQ Ribs and Rhett's Mixed Grill. Portions are large and entree prices are high. Hefty Savannah Crabcakes are slightly soggy and served with a casserole of speckled heart grits, cheese and pecans while a not-so-Southern grilled grouper, is tender and fresh. Luckily, diners can almost get their money's worth from the unlimited fresh-baked breads, tender corn muffins and salads from the sideboard. For dessert, satisfy your sweet tooth with a slice of pecan pie or peach cobbler.

Insider Tips
What to DrinkFor a true Southern drink try Pittypat's mint julep. Made with crushed ice, Kentucky bourbon and lots of mint. The mint julep isn't served in a traditional silver cup, but it does come in a signature Pittypat's glass.
The ExtrasThe best part of the whole experience is the wall-mounted collection of newspaper clippings. Excerpts from various episodes in the city's history, plus GWTW premiere shots of Mr. and Mrs. Gable.
ParkingGive the high-priced parking charge a miss. Take MARTA to the Peachtree Center Station (N1).

Following the advice of the guy in the information booth on the corner, we went to Pitipat's last night. Not only was it overpriced, but the food is mediocre at best. $18 dollar fried chicken comes with a scoop of fake mashed potatoes and a cold, tasteless biscuit. I hope that people who don't live in the south don't think that this food is actually what southern food is all about. Save your money.
Pros: location,interesting decor
Cons: price,food

I can definitely see how people would Poopoo Pittypats. The biggest drawback (well only drawback for me) was the value. I am almost positive that you can get better or comparable southern food elsewhere for much cheaper. However if you are eating on a company per diem as I was, I highly recommend it. The service was very good. I don't think the european accent was historically accurate, but he was quite knowledgeable and helpful. The fried chicken was without a doubt the best i have ever tasted, but I'm from Oregon so I have a limited scope of fried chicken. The bread basket was very tasty and diverse. I wasn't sure what some things were, but they tasted really good. Vegetarians and cheapskates would probably be happy with the all you can eat salad bar type thing. Sorry though, I didn't like the Watermelon Rind. I gave it a try, not for me. I was going to kick myself if I didn't get the cobbler, but as good as it is, it was really small. The key lime pie wasn't quite like the Key Lime pie we were expecting, it was good, but...different.
Pros: Great food. Split Checks. Friendly service. Salad bar. Lots of seating.
Cons: Very expensive.
