The Scene
This is the tallest hotel in the Western hemisphere. The 73-story, tube-shaped structure framed in distinctive black glass dominates its city block. Inside, business types and well-to-do tourists hobnob in the spectacular lobby (designed after Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens). This virtual city within a city is located nearly at the geographic center of downtown Atlanta. Hardly a romantic setting, but breathtaking panoramic views of Atlanta make the hotel a desirable place for urban escape.
The Details
All 1,068 rooms in this giant overlook the city. The farther up you stay, the higher the room rate. Six lavish suites on the 69th and 70th floors crown the Peachtree's pinnacle. The hotel also boasts a sundeck and lap pool covered by a retractable roof. Guest office and regular rooms are primed with business travelers and include everything from an in-room laser printer/fax/copier to mundane office supplies. The hotel also rents out cell phones.

The ExtrasIf you can't afford the stay, ride the external, glass-encased elevator to the top: There's a spectacular view from the bar at the Sun Dial. But know that if you're not a hotel guest, there is a fee for riding the elevator to the top.

Peachtree Plaza Hotal offers my husband and I all we need in a get away retreat. The rooms are breath taking,the restaurant and dinner is the best with the most dramatic & romatic city view. It's a must for 1st vistors.

My wife suprised me with a Valenitines day visit to th Westin. The view was great and the room was very clean. My wife and I did notice, that while clean, the room and its furnishing was just down right old. I did like the bed and the covers, but nothing in the room sold me or said this is luxury, except the view. Can't beat that!! While I recommend this location, I would chose a newer high-end location, if amenities are your thing. At the same time, you can't go wrong at the Westin. It is nice, but you can find better hotel forthe money. My wife says, "Too much money for the room you get". I agree, but I may go back. It's the view man. Oh yeah, you can go to the Sun Dial for an expensive, but quality meal in the morning or evening.

Cons: Old.
