In Short – Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

Against my better judgement, I allowed a friend to drag me to Benihana in downtown Atlanta. After a lengthy wait (made more painful by a bad bartender and awful cocktail), we were finally seated at the Hibachi grill. Here we ordered sushi appetizer followed by the steak and lobster "special". Since one shares the table with several parties and we were the only party ordering apps, the timing of the entire meal was jumbled, leaving us having a watery soup, then our dry sushi, a salad and then on to the entree. Here, we watched in amazement as the cook served my lobster tail to the other party, despite my repeated and loud vocal objections. When I complained to the manager, their suggestion was to prepare me another lobster tail. By the time this was ready, of course, my company - as well as everyone else at the table - were done with their meal already, my steak (and rice, veg, etc.) were cold and the lobster undercooked.
Benihana's resolution? They comped a total of $8.46!!
Amazing. Including bar tab and tip, we spent over $130 at Benihana that evening and completely ruining our experience - and our Saturday night out - seems worth all of $8.46 to them. Trust that this will be my last visit to this restaurant or any other Benihana location.
Avoid at all cost!!
- Pros: None
- Cons: Bad location, dated design, mediocre food, horrible service

I have tried many places. I do have to say that I have never been so disapointed. The chef was to busy watching what was going on at the other tables. The steak was over cooked and had no taste. The server was not on top of things. I had to wait way to long for something to drink and just to get my check. There was no show put on at all. I will never go back and if you are looking for good food it is not here.
