Perfect Romantic Dining , Great Atmosphere, Close Safe Parking. Although the restaurant seems a bit fancy at first, the staff welcomes all, and instantly makes everyone feel comfortable. I highly recommend looking your best, however it is not required. The building is one of the oldest still standing in Atlanta and ushers in the feeling of the old gentile times of Atlanta prior to trendy areas such as Buckhead. The food is not something to eat everyday, however it is exquisite. This is a perfect place for a wedding, special event, marraige proposal etc. Be sure to make a reservation, and when you do request Jimmy to be your server. You will not be disappointed.

The crab Soup and duck breast is a must try.

Top Notch Customer Service!. Thanks goodness for Downtown Restaurant Week, I had the opportunity to experience this restaurant several times and was very pleased. The food is both creative and tantalizing.

Superb Dining Experience. It was wonderful to go back to a restaurant and find the same great food and service. The grand dining room is impressive, the cuisine was refreshing and the service attentive. Wondeful meal and sucessful meeting. I'll be going back again.

Atrocious. Simply put I cannot imagine how anyone, other than employees ofthis place, would ever even imagine this was fine dining or in any way shape form anything better than an overpriced fernbar. How it has won any awards at all baffles me and makes me question the value of these awards. The service was slow, and ignorant of manners. We were greeted with the "chefs special foh 60 bucks!".

The quail appetizer was greasy and tough, inedible.

The overpriced endive salad consisted of 4 bits of endive scattered with field greens and ONE bruised grape tomato sliced into quarters, accompanied by an extremely salty thin dressing.

My rib-eye was thin, tough, and smothered in a scorched, overbearing sauce.

My dates New York strip was equally tough, and soaking in the same scorched sauce. Somehow the "chef" confused capers with whole black pepper corns.

This place is an unmitigated disaster for a fine dining restaurant.

Average Meal Service for too much money. Too much hype for a mediocre establishment. Food blah, service blah. blah, blah.....

Don't believe the hype!. Our dinner club dined during Restaurant Week and we were in for a rude awakening! Despite having reservations, we were seated 25 min. late and then sat for 20 min. before we were given water; we had to ask for our server! It was a fixed 3-course menu but all the food was served late, bland and lukewarm. The fillet of beef w/red wine reduction was overcooked, the horseradish mashed potatoes were plain and the spinach was terrible. The chocolate pate was rich but bittersweet and the 3-berry shortcake only had raspberries. Our server never checked on us or inquired about the food. The service was sloppy - I actually got hit with my plate as it was taken away! We didnt even linger over dessert talking; we were ready to leave. Overall, it was a HUGE disappointment! The decor is beautiful but save your money and go somewhere else!

Great for a business dinner. The look and feel of this restaurant is very impressive. You should visit a restaurant like this expecting to enjoy a lengthy meal. My colleagues and I enjoyed the tasting menu paired with wines and appreciated the attentiveness of the staff (not suffocating but still quick to please). We were in town for a convention and it was busy for a Monday night.

Fine dining, Southern style, draws crowds to a landmark downtown building.. The Scene
Located in a former bank lobby, this downtown favorite bustles with executives during the week and couples and families on weekends. Just right for closing deals or celebrating special occasions, City Grill's interior is formal, yet inviting. Marble pillars rise to meet an ornate ceiling and rich leather accents complement white linen. Servers are attentive and well-versed in seasonal ingredients.

The Food
Though there are few misses, seafood offerings are the strongest of the menu's nouveau Southern dishes. For starters, try tender hickory shrimp-topped grits with smoky gravy or springy chunks of crawfish and lobster dressed with a rich tarragon cream sauce. An entree of roasted loin of monkfish is sweet and garlicky, though roasted pork loin is on the salty side. Desserts steal the show. White chocolate cherry gingerbread is a light finish and bread pudding with whiskey sauce is heavier, but warm and inviting nonetheless.

Perfect for special occasions. We came here after my now fiancee proposed. It was perfect. Romantic ambiance, excellent service & delicious food & wine. I love what they did to the old Fed Reserve building!

Wonderful Experience. I recently had an opportunity to dine at City Grill in downtown Atlanta. I ordered the crab cake appetizer and the skate wing served with parsnip puree as an entrée. Both were exceptional! I recommend it as my first choice for an evening with friends and family. From the congenial hostess to the top-notch service and savory entrees, this dining experience rates among the best.
