Tends to be dry and overcooked. The ribs have little meat on them, but what is there is OK. The sliced pork has most recently been overcooked and dry -- resulting in having to overuse an average BBQ sauce to moisten them. The last few times I've have the chicken the dark meat was fine, but the white meat was dry and overcooked. The atmosphere is normal for a BBQ place -- rustic, wooden table and chairs/benches. They're located througout the Atlanta area and provide consistently average food. Try Pappy Red's, Slopes or Williams Bros for better ribs and pork.
Best pulled pork I've ever had!. I love their pulled pork, and my husband loves their sliced pork. The sauces are great, and you get a lot for your money. We eat there at least once a week!
Consistent.. Good ribs and chicken. Nice variety of sauces. Servings are nice size, however, servings could be a little hotter.
Sonny's Yuk!. Sonny's used to be a great value. The Bar-B-Q specials gave you plenty of good food. However, in the last year or so, something happened. You are served less food and the prices are higher. The Pork Bar-B-Q is very fatty and doesn't have the great flavor as it once did. I've stopped eating there.
Bleechk!!. Sauces were pumped up to be sweet, sour and hot/spicy, but the base is what really needs work -- it is very blah with a hint of bitterness. The smokehouse meats, although tasted fine, were very dry.....yet preferable to attempting to add any more of Sonny's sauces.
bears know best!. Pitiful excuse for Southern Barbecue. I wouldn't feed it to a dog! How do they survive as a chain? I guess enough people from up north moved south and don't understand what real barbecue and stew are all about. Every barbecue establishment in Franklin, Stephens, Hart and Madison county serve better viddles. And I wouldn't be seen in a couple of them.
mouth watering. I have tried several BBQ restaurants in the southeast area, but I have never found anything that taste better than Sonny's. Plus for the price and quantity and overall service is great. I highly recommend to anyone who loves BBQ!
Sonny's is not REAL bbq.. Sonny's may serve meat cooked in a bar-b-que style, but it is no-where near genuine Atlanta bbq. The meat is sliced and dry and the sauces are too think, too sweet and have too much of a tomato base. Atlanta (and Georgia) bbq is chopped, shredded, or sliced much thinner than theirs, and is loaded with a loose, non-sweet vinegar base. In my family, Sonny's is not even considered a bbq restaurant.
I love it.. I am there almost every Saturday. Their ribs and chicken is delicious. And the baked beans are the best. And the tea is wonderful.
weak. Not barbeque at all. Pork not chopped. Ribs unimaginative. Service quite good.
