Editorial Review for Outback Steakhouse – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

I don't even know where to begin. I guess first of all, I will never go back. The service was ridiculously slow, unprofessional, and rude. My glass of wine that I ordered from the bar took at least ten minutes to arrive at my table. I could see my wine just sitting there waiting to be picked up. I guess I could have gotten it myself, but I had no interest in serving myself. My chicken was way undercooked and there was hard, crusty, dried on cheese on my plate. How many people could have overlooked this, when I was able to see it right away? Nothing came to the table promptly, and I could see my server socializing like he was at a party and not at work. The experience was terrible and they lost out on me spending any more money in that joint. I went across the street to Bahama Breeze and had a wonderful dessert and after dinner cocktail with personable service.
Pros: Ummmm.... don't know
Cons: enough said

There's two things I really like about Outback - you can eat a steak at the bar, and it's dimily lit enough to feel intimate and give you more of a steakhouse feel. There's usually a wait at this location off of Barrett Pkwy, but if you don't mind sitting at the bar, you can eat a whole meal there. I know most bars offer this service, but they have a pretty nice bar. There steaks have always been good and a few times I've had chicken and that was good also. They don't have the largest menu but what they do, they do pretty well. If you're looking for a steak off of Barrett Pkwy, I'd go here before Longhorn's or Bugaboo Creek.
