Tips for Carrabba's Italian Grill

October 06, 2008

An open kitchen churns out wood-fired pizzas and fresh-made pastas at this casual Sicilian-American chain.. In Short
Decorated with family photos of founders Damian Mandola and Johnny Carrabba, the open dining rooms pack groups of friends and extended families into four- and six-person tables and booths; smaller parties or couples can grab stools at the open kitchen's adjoining bar to watch chefs make dinner. The traditional southern Italian menu offers grill specialties like steak Marsala and fire-roasted chicken breast with sun-dried tomatoes; pasta dishes include fettuccine Alfredo and garlic-sauteed shrimp with linguine.

Authentic Italian I prefer a DIFFERENT SECTION OF ITALY FLAVOR PERSONALLY.... NOT TOO BAD, but in my opinion a way overpriced and not very accommodating for adjustments to menu items, or large parties. I personally don't like restaurants where the whole kitchen is open and loud. The decor is pretty and if it were a little quieter with some Italian music and a little more table privacy, the price might be a little more acceptable. I do like the bread and herbs, but I prefer more Garlic in my Olive oil than the dried red peppers. They offer a wide variety of menu choices which is always a crowd pleaser, but I think it takes away a little of the quality. I have eaten there several times; the first few times I really liked it and recommended it, but this last time a couple of months ago, I'm not so sure. I had to send back a simple dish, and by the time they got it to me it wasn't that different, so I had them box it. They didn't offer any compensation, no free dessert, nothing... My husband's was fine, in fact I ate part of his! Also, I thought that they brought out a large Italian salad with the bread like Olive Garden and PROVINO's do, I ordered a Fettachini with something dish and because it wasn't under a Certain section of the menu, I paid for my CHOICE of small salads... I really liked to eat there over the last several years but it has changed...

Nice Restaurant. I really like Carrabba's and believe it's one of the best restaurants on the Barrett Pkwy strip. As soon as you sit down, they bring bread with olive oil dipping sauce and the service is usually pretty quick. The kitchen is partially open so you get to see the preprations of your meal and the staff is always knowledgable. I usually get the Insalata Carrabba, which is a huge bowl (the "big salad" for you Seinfeld fans) full of fresh, mixed greens, tons of fresh vegetables, succulent grilled chicken strips and the best dressing I've ever tasted. I would definitely recommend Carrabba's over the other restaurant choices off Barrett Pkwy.***4/18/07 - Funny how things change. I went here the Sat before '07 Easter to have dinner w/ my extended family and the service was *horrible*!! We had 7 guests w/ us, which is a large table, but there were only 3 other tables being used in the restaurant at that time, so there was no excuse for our bad service. Our simple salads took about 15 min to be brought out and we really thought our waitress had forgotten about us. The food made me think "so what?"; no authentic Italian and they have very few choices for vegetarians, which was disappointing for an Italian restaurant. Overall, I won't go here again b/c of the poor service we received and the less than stellar menu, plus high prices overall ($8 martini - it's Kennesaw!) for a lunch. I would rather go to La Docle Vita in the Publix Shopping Center near Cobb & Barrett!

Outstanding In Every Way. A well trained staff, easy access, generous-sized offerings, excellent value, strongly flavored selections, with speedy carry-out service. Not the place for a tete-a-tete romantic outing; but absolutely the best tasting menu selections, and best value, Italian style restaurant in the Metro area bar none. The mussel appetizer is not to be missed, nor is the huge beef filet main course with freshly sauteed spinach or broccoli. Chow down, and experience a big grin when the check arrives.

Excellent food!. I've been to this restaurant several times and have tried just about everything on the menu and I can't find a dish I DON'T like. Everything is good! I used to go to Outback for a good steak, but now I go to Carrabba's. The best dish, when they have them, are the lamb chops. Incredible!
