wanted skillets had to get pancakes. On Tuesday January 26 2010, I took my grand mother out for breakfast. We went to the Cracker Barrel in Kennesaw Ga. We wanted to try the new skillet. We asked to have the skillet with turkey sausage in instead of pork. We wanted the turkey sausage not for religious reasons, instead because I have an allergic reaction to pork and my grand mother at age 87 has been advised by her doctor to no longer eat pork. We were told that there were no substitutions allowed. We would have paid for the substitution. In fact we always substitute pork for turkey when I take her out for breakfast and commonly pay or the substitution. However because there were no substitutions allowed we did not even have this option. Needless to say we did not try the skillet. We did order something else, only because my grandmother has had a hip replacement, and was already out of the car, and seated. Had she not been, we would have gone else ware. We ordered pancakes; they were thin, tough and greasy. When I went to pay I alerted your cashier that your restaurant should allow substitutions and about the poor quality of the pancakes. When I mentioned the pancakes, she acted like I had insulted her personally. She defended your pancakes, I guess as she was trained to do. She told me everyone loves the pancakes and people come from miles away just for the pancakes. She then said she would let them know that one person said the pancakes were too greasy for them. This was not exactly what I had said, but I don’t believe she was going to relay my thoughts any way. By the time I had paid I was glad to be leaving. I like to take my grand mother out at least twice a week for breakfast. I also have a cousin who takes her out every Saturday for breakfast. I told my cousin about this experience at your restaurant. We decided we will not be bringing her back to your restaurant. We don’t care to eat at restaurants that have no substitutions, and don’t care when the food we had to settle on was not good.

I would also like to let you know that the reason I did not ask for a manager was because the table next to us had already ask for a manager. We had not ordered when the manager was at their table. We in fact were just being seated as the manager was leaving their table. When we were told their were no substitutions, the lady at that table told us she was a vegetarian and wanted a substitution as well. The manager in her opinion was condescending and did nothing for her. She said it was as if the manager was being rude with out being rude. The customers said she was explaining store policy like they were supposed to know it, or even care and using it as if it was a good reason to do nothing for them. I was not about to go threw that with my grand mother there. The couple next to us said they had no intention of going back to your restaurant. Oddly, we were all 4 in agreement that the waitress was sweet and showed genuine concern for us. Also we all thought the coffee was amazing. Better than Starbucks. So 2 tables in your restaurant that morning thought it would have been better as a coffee house.

Great Breakfast. My bf & I just went to this Cracker Barrel yesterday for breakfast - it wasn't the first time and it surely won't be the last. We both had scrambled eggs, hashbrown casserole (both our fav!), biscuits & gravy, grits, and turkey sausage. With 2 drinks it was $16, which wasn't too bad. The country store is overpriced in my opinion, but still fun to peruse. I always eat breakfast so I can't speak for the lunch/dinner menu but maybe one day I'll try it. Service is always friendly and even if you have to wait, they try to get people in and out quickly.
