“plan to return again and again for this great cajun food, even though it is quite a drive from my "neck of the woods.”
“If you are looking for a clean place with good service; keep driving.”
“can't say if the food tasted good but the portions I saw being served during my 2 hour wait looked scrumptous.”
“spicy, authentic cajun food but a long wait.”
Was that supposed to be cajun?. OK...I believe the people who work at the restaurant are the only ones giving this place a high rating. I cannot believe people who don't work at this restaurant would actually give it a high rating....I can't believe people who have EVER tasted REAL cajun food would give this restaurant a high rating....The staff was nice enough when I went but dang, the food was NOT cajun. I don't think they could survive outside of Douglasville. No offense....to Douglasville.....but if they had to compete with some real cajun restaurants the doors would close...and not that I wish that on any business owner but come on, cajun? Why not change the menu to what it really is? pinto beans (like lovesbridge said) over rice.....
Best food ever.
I love the food but some of the server are not any good. They need the old servers back.
Like nancy, selena and linda
Gumbeaux's. No, I completely disagree with the previous review. This is a great restaurant. The food is very cajun and very authentic. You are completely wrong when you say get a cajun chef, when in fact the owner and the chef are actually from New Orleans. Please have your facts stright when you write a review next time. Apparently you need to brush up on your cajun food.
Not good example of REAL cajun food. I went to this restaurant and ordered a sample of about five items on the menu. Having lived on the Bayou of Louisiana, I can tell you this IS NOT real cajun food. The so-called red beans and rice are nothing but pinto beans over rice and I could taste chili powder in the other dishes. This is an extremely poor example of "authentic" cajun cooking. I was very disappointed. I agree with Maurice (find a REAL CAJUN cook!)
Excellent Cajun Food!. I recently went to Gumbeaux's for the first time. What a restaurant find! I arrived for lunch on a Saturday, and was promptly seated. Gumbeaux's is an unpretentious, hole-in-the-wall kind of place (and these kinds of places often have THE best food!), with the requisite Louisiana-themed decor. Our waitress, Nancy, (who is also the manager) was prompt in taking our order, and well-versed about all menu items. I overheard her speaking with other customers, and she is serious about making sure customers are 100% satisfied, or she'll do whatever it takes to make it so. The menu is broad and varied, but not overwhelming to read and decide upon. I ordered Shrimp Etouffee and a cup of Chicken & Sausage Gumbo. Each was excellent; perfectly seasoned. They were NOT stingy with the plump, good-sized shrimp; and the gumbo was teeming with sausage and chicken-breast pieces. The portions are generous, and the prices most reasonable. This is authentic and quality cajun food. I understand a second Gumbeaux's, in Newnan, failed to really catch on, and it was recently closed. That's a shame. What were you folks in Newnan thinking?! I plan to return again and again for this great cajun food, even though it is quite a drive from my "neck of the woods." I will take friends there, and I will pass the word --you gotta try it! Hey Gumbeaux's, open a restaurant in MY area (Northlake), or at least closer in to Atlanta. Your business would be booming! And, thanks, Nancy. You were great!
Excellent Menu. Authentic cajun cooking. Just moved from New Orleans and i feel like im back home!!!! We can definetly tell fake cajun to authrntic cajun cooking and this is it!!!
Gumbeaux's is a bad example of Lousiana cooking.. Their food does not taste like authentic Louisiana cooking. It is like a tourist trap with below average food from back home picked up and moved to Douglasville. Nice try, find a real cook. What's up with your name?
Kinda Dirty. If you are looking for real Cajun food, well this is the place. If you are looking for a clean place with good service; keep driving.
Excellence.
My first experience 10/15/05 was excellent. The Service impeccable, warm and friendly.
The ambience, good New Orleans Charm. The food was grand. I cant wait to go back and introduce more friends to this restaurant. Keep up the good work!
the best food in or around Atlanta. If I could I would eat there every night. The menu is very extensive and I have not tried anything that was not great. The service is wonderful. There is always a wait unless you get there a little before five right before it opens back up for dinner, but the wait is well worth it. Parking can be a little tricky but overall don't let any of it stop you from experiencing it. If you like a little more peacefull quiet meal sit down stairs, if you like more of a bar type scenery sit upstairs and don't foget the train shots. Oh they do have an elevator or stairs whichever you prefer.
