Everyone at this animal hospital was very friendly and professional. It makes it a good experience. My dog even seemed less agitated there than at other places he's been. He must notice too!
I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate everyone at Kay Animal Hospital. Dr. James Kay showed a tremendous amount of compassion when my beloved Emma (Great Dane) came out of remission for Lymphoma and I needed to let her go. Dr. Michael Kay is also first class & he always devotes time with my furbabies while attending to their needs. When I rescued an emaciated and heartworm positive dog, everyone rallied to see him well! Thankfully, he is a healthy & happy boy today! I absolutely think the world of Kim Kay, Jill, Chris, as well as many of the others. Whenever asked for vet reference, I always direct friends/family/acquaintances to Kay Animal Hospital.
For what it is worth, I absolutely love it at Kay's Animal Hospital. I get right in and I'm taken care of immediately! The biggest thing with me is trust, and I trust them there, if I didn't trust them, I wouldn't be there.
Great Veterinary Team, Care about Your Animals. We have two Dogs (over 7 yrs of age) going here for the past 5 years. We are Very Impressed with all the Doctors and the staff. Our dogs had their teeth cleaned here and were put to sleep for the cleaning (the teeth came out great). One dog has had eye surgery to get a small tumor out. Prices are very good. We boarded our dogs here for a few days also and it was a good boarding visit.
Best veterinarian in Douglasville!. I have been bringing my dogs to Kay Animal Hospital for several years, and we absolutely love it. We unfortunately had to put one of our dogs down, but the staff was extremely supportive and compassionate. We bring our other dog there for everything; from checkups to surgeries. Every single time I go there, I am overly impressed- they are the best! We would definitely recommend them as we trust them with a member of our family!
PLEASE Do Not bring your beloved animal here....
I have been going to this vet for many years and have mostly dealt with the son, Michael Kay. Unfortunately when my dog became ill, Michael Kay was in Europe, so I had to have the father, James Kay take care of my dog. She was very sick and had to have surgery. A simple surgery turned into a second surgery because something was missed. I was told the second surgery would have another doctor assist. I was assured she would be fine and sent home and told not to come back for 10 days. After a long weekend of the dog being in pain and discomfort, which I was not given meds, because I was told it was not needed. Come Monday morning, the dog had yet more complications. You'd think 2 surgeons could do a surgery correctly. I was told more tests were needed and I'd get a phone call shortly to be assessed of the situation. After 2 phone calls and 5 hours later, I was told a third surgery was performed....WITHOUT my knowledge I might add and also WITHOUT a follow up phone call!! At this point I was in contact with a different doctor ready to have another opinion, I was NOT intending on confirming to a third surgery, but since I was never informed, I did not have the choice!! I was told to pick her up later that day and to bring her in the following morning for a follow up. Instead of bringing me into a private room to go over post op instructions or to bring me my dog, instead, the dog was brought to me in the lobby and that was it!! No further discussions with Dr. James Kay! I took my dog to another vet the following morning and things were not good at all. It has been a downward spiral since. She is very sick and is now in need of a 4th surgery in less than 2 weeks time because of internal bleeding. How can 3 surgeries be done so poorly? This is a very small dog I might add and I'm not sure she will make it. I will NEVER bring another living animal to this hospital. I hope and pray anyone reading this review will also avoid this vet at any cost, possibly at the cost of your animals life!!
The reason why I gave this review one star is because you have to give it a rating in order to publish your review, if it were up to me, I'd give this a negative star rating!!
WE LOVE KAY ANIMAL HOSPITAL. My daughters collect animals. We have had to take our animals to Kay Animal Hospital for car accidents, poisoning, dog/cat bites, mega esophogus, hip dysplasia and routine check ups. They do not nickel and dime you to death, are very caring and willing to go the extra mile to help solve problems and have, on a few occasions, kept our animals to observe them for conditions they were not sure about. We rescue strays and try to give them a good environment but sometimes injuries and illness happens and Dr. Michael Kay, Dr. Jim Kay and Dr. Kinney have been fantastic along with their staff. Thank you for all you do! You have our support and gratitude.
Please do not take your animals to Dr. Michael Kay. Please do not take your animals to Dr. Michael Kay, the son of the Dr. Jim Kay is absolutely the most apathetic person I've ever seen after spending over $800 on tests and giving no complete answers he sent our extremely sick dog home with little to no explanation. We actually found out that he didn't even give one of the meds that we paid for and he charged twice for x rays that we never saw nor got any indication that he even did them. Our poor little boy took meds with us calling back over and over to the vet for help understanding what we were going to do, with so many unanswered calls and when we would show up he would only give us another med to try, he had NO IDEA what was causing the problem. We had to take our little boy to another vet and he had to be put to sleep, I know I'm angry for losing him and I'm sure that's a great excuse for Dr. Kay to use if anyone reads this. TRUST ME, he gave my husband and I some crap about previous employees he had to fire for stealing from his dad that were writing bad reviews online.. Now, I don't believe it. Whether my advice is taken or not, please keep this post in mind. I am completely devasted at my loss and I really hope that I can help someone make a decision not to let this happen to them. If I can save one animal from this same treatment it will be worth it. If Michael Kay had really tried to diagnose him and not talk around every problem maybe he would still be with us. I wish I had never stepped foot in that building, I wish I had never taken my little boy to that place, but it's too late for us now. Please don't let your baby be the next!!!
