Since 1955, this Atlanta-based chain has welcomed an all-hours crowd of shift workers, suits, regulars and late-night partiers with comfy booths and an extensive menu of Southern-accented home-style grub. Waffles (pecan or regular) are the restaurant's most popular dish. Other breakfast favorites include porterhouse T-bone steak and eggs, country ham, and signature hash browns cooked seven ways, from smothered with onions to topped with chili or cheese. Another bargain is the bowl of chili, which comes topped with onions, ham and cheese.

Good As Any. I've been to this Waffle House a few times and I've never been disappointed. It has the friendly feel of neighborhood regulars and a busy, but smiling, cook. I always get the multi-grain waffle, which is going to be phased out soon, and hashbrowns with tomatoes and onions - yum!
