Tips for Atlanta Toyota

April 05, 2013

I am writing this review as a cautionary tale for anyone thinking of buying a car at Atlanta Toyota. There are some rules that are not clear when you leave the showroom floor. To protect yourself make sure you have a copy of the agreed upon price of the car that you signed in the showroom.. Take a photo of the paper you signed with your phone. Do not let them ready the car for you i.e. do not let them program your phone into the car system before you go into the financial office. If you do, you will feel invested in the car, something I am sure Atlanta Toyota wants. Atlanta Toyota does not want you to walk out of the financial office if you become uncomfortable with the way things go.

The reasons for these rules are that once you make a commitment to the car Atlanta Toyota changes the playing field. In our case once we were in the financial office the price of the car changed without warning or explanation. We asked why the base price of the car changed and suddenly the financial manager was shuffling pages and we were shown lines that said this is what you will owe. They suggested changing the down payment amount and the loan interest rate. Both of these apparently void the showroom agreement. They never explained that. And yes,we did both of those things but only at the suggestion of the financial officer. He never explained that doing so would alter the base price. And these changes were made long after we pointed out that the base price was wrong.

We tried to contact our financial manager at Atlanta Toyota that day before 5 PM but he wouldn’t answer and did not return our messages. We could not contact the general manager because he was suddenly no longer with the company. Anyway, his mysterious absence does not explain why the financial officer never called us back.

We did hear from Atlanta Toyota when the showroom sales person called to ask how the car was and about our experience . We explained that we were not pleased with Atlanta Toyota. Then we heard from the customer service person. We were told we had to come back in and they would try to find the problem. Not wanting to go back to the showroom we sent emails pointing out the difference in the signed showroom price and the financial manager price. We also pointed out the changes made in the financial office were at the suggestion of the financial officer and that they had never been explained.. Emails from Atlanta Toyota assured us everything in the process was honest and appropriate. They never did address the problem of the difference between the showroom price and financial office price. They wanted to do everything to make our experience a pleasant one. Do everything but honor the showroom price!

As a precautionary warning: Do not change anything from the floor agreement once in the financial office. Atlanta Toyota trades off mendacity and nuances in the law. If you do use Atlanta Toyota count your fingers and your toes before you leave.

BUYWER BEWARE!. I purchased a new vehicle here in 2008. I was asked if I'd like to purchase the extended warranty which I did. In my opinion, they implied it was an extension of the Toyota bumper to bumper warranty.

My initial factory warranty just ran out. I had an issue and took the car in for service. I was told by their service department that they had sold me a third party warranty and that it wouldn't cover the car.

This was not made clear; they implied the extended warranty to be an extension of the Toyota factory warranty. Not a third party warranty I could've bought later directly most probably for less.

I paid $1400 for this third party extended warranty three years ahead of time that doesn't even cover the car. It has now covered the car for 6 weeks since the factory warranty expired. I inquired about cancelling it and they informed I would receive a refund of only $500.

Learn from my mistake. Don't do business here. If you must, make sure to read the fine print and don't take them at their word.

BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE!

BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE! BUYER BEWARE!

Do not sell your car to these people. Sold my 2007 Camry to them over a week ago and still waiting on a check. I thought it was very odd that I had to wait until my finance company sent them confirmation and the title in order to get my portion, but went ahead with the transaction. Still waiting on my $4500 several days after the payoff was confirmed. Called in to ask about the status and was transferred around to defensive, incompetent morons who acted like they had no idea what I was talking about. I will get my $4500 that they owe me - even if I have to sue them.

STAY AWAY!!!!. Found a car, test drove it and made an offer while driving the car, pulled into the lot and the new owners of the car were waiting to drive off in it! My daughter is now crying (the car was for her) and the salesman says their policy is that the car stays on the sales lot until financing goes through. So we were driving a car that now belonged to the bank that financed the new owners and not to Atl Toyota. Not only a shady policy but I would think a major legal mess if God forbid the car were wrecked during the test drive. Only good thing I have to say is now I'm glad we weren't able to get the car cause I do not want to do business with a business like this! Stay away from this dealership!

Corruption and Lies: Avoid at all costs. This place is as corrupt as it gets. They sold me a car that the car salesman said got 30+ mpg, but I found out later, got 17 mpg according to the websites. When I tried to stop the purchase of it because the loan had not gone through, the Pre-Own Director pushed the loan through Toyota Finance while I was waiting to sign the papers to release myself from the car. Then when I pointed out his corrupt activities, he said "Of course I did it! I wasn't going to let you walk out of here without that car!" I threatened an arbitration hearing to which I was told "go ahead and do it. We will win in court because you signed the papers. It doesn't matter if the loan went through 10 minutes ago." Then he said, "I know that some shady things went down here, and I want you to come to me directly so we can work out a deal with a new car when you trade this one back in" Now I am stuck with a 17 mpg car, and it cost me $50.00 in gas after 3 days of driving to school and back. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE OR YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF BY THEIR SALES PEOPLE AND THEIR CORRUPT MANAGERS WILL NOT HELP YOU I am staging a protest every Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm for me and anyone else who has been taken at this place.

Parts and service sucks. They sold me a bad connector cable to the trailer for $80 (outside anywhere from $5 -$20).

The service guy quoted me $140 for installing the cable (5 min job) which I luckily rejected. The Service rep. & Mechanic are below average in their knowledge on the vechice but grade well in screwing the customer.

Shady Business Practices. This place and it's employees are not the most truthful people in the world, to say the least. To keep this short, I will give you all the basics. During the whole buying process we dealt with the sales manager who specifically said he couldn't go below $10,000 because that is what they paid for the car and his boss said he COULDN'T sell it at invoice. Once we started to pull our offer off the table, he sold it to us for $9999, which is just one of the many little fibs that they told us. Then it gets better. They then lied about fixing the allingment and we caught them in a lie there. I wish I could write more that 150 words...watch it they will lie like a rug to your face at Atlanta Toyota.

THE PLACE TO BUY YOUR CAR. I had gone to probably 8 dealers that day, and the salesman over at Atlanta Toyota was WONDERFUL. He came back with a price that I wanted in 10 minutes. .. while I was still settling in and thinking it waas going to take a half hour. . .i hadn't even opened my drink. H. Louis was so enthusastic about it he made me even more excited about owning a new celica than i already was! A great experience for me, a first time car buyer! I had even called him after the sale to ask a few questions and he actually called me back to answer them.
