Most Offensive Experience Ever. My family has been customers here for the past 4 years. I will say that we will NEVER visit again. We were the first ones seated but last served. Our server decided to have a long friendly conversation with another patron while we were waiting for her to bring our order over.

When we left, we decided to pay with cash. The server ran back to our table then proceeded to tell her co-worker to hurry up and count our money. Never have I been so offended before in my life. My husband left a sizeable tip because it was the right thing to do but I regret that now. I advised the server that I heard her comment and she denied it of course. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

So bad we got up and left. My family of 5 has been there several times over the past year. The last two times the waitresses were really rude. Insisted we sit right beside another family without leaving and empty seat in between...... on a night when they were really slow, almost empty. We didn't comply and the waitress escalated and found another waitress/manager or whatever she was to come back and insist our family of 5 squeeze against this other family. They spoke the language fine but were either so rude or so unlearned that even the kids said "let's leave". And the kids were very excited about going there.

The time before, my "filet" was not a filet. It was simply cheap, tough steak. I was willing to overlook this one time but I'm now done with this place after two bad experiences. It's like these waitresses are determined that you will do exactly what and how they say. Avoid this place unless you are looking for a rude waitress. If you are looking for that experience along with some sub-par food, they can make you very happy.

HAPPY SUMO. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO HAPPY SUMO OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS FOR LUNCH. I ORDER THE SAME THING FILET COOKED MED. SEVERAL TIMES THEY WOULD GIVE ME STEAK AND I WOULD TELL THEM THIS IS NOT FILET. TODAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!! THE MANAGER MIKE SAID IT WAS FILET THEY WILL ARGUE AND I WILL STAND MY GROUND AND THEN THEY BRING OUT THE CORRECT THING. THE LAST TIME THE WAITRESS KEPT SAYING THIS IS FILET EVEN THE ONE GUY THAT WORKS AT THE SUSHI BAR KNEW IT WASN'T AND WENT IN THE BACK AND IT CAME BACK CORRECT. TODAY THE MANAGER MIKE TOLD ME I SHOULD SIT AT THE HIBACHIT TABLE! WHAT DIFFERENCE SHOULD THAT MAKE. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS AN EXCUSE THAT THE COOK IN THE BACK SHOULD KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. I LIKE TO WATCH THEM MAKE THE SUSHI AND I GET MY ORDER QUICKER THAN IF I WAITED FOR THE HIBACHI TABLE.I ALSO TOLD THEM YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LOBSTER AND SHRIMP. I WILL NOT GO BACK SINCE THEY CONTINUE TO RIP ME OFF!! THIS IS A POOR EXCUSE OF A MANAGER KNOWING THAT HE IS RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS. SO IF YOU CHOOSE TO EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT BEWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING AND WHAT IS BEING CHARGED TO YOU. I WILL TELL OTHERS REGARDING THEIR LITTLE SCHEME"

One of my favorite!. I love Happy Sumo - both Norcross and Dunwoody locations. Dunwoody one is right across the street from my house so I stop by for a roll every time I get sushi cravings. Great food, fresh and yummy, and great prices!

Best Sushi Anywhere. This is a great restaurant!! The sushi is awesome!!! The sushi chefs are great and very accomodationg!!! You will not find better priced sushi anywhere in town. It is also great quality. They will make what you want even if it is not on the menu. The waitresses are okay. There are two goods ones. We always seem to get the horrible, older one who is always grumpy. We just laugh about it now!! I think she is the worst waitress we have ever had. We have been going here for over 2 years now. Very regularly and she has yet to be nice to us. However, everyone else is great. The food is so good that I still give it a 5 star.

One of our favorites. Happy Sumo is one of our favorite places to go. We usually skip a meal prior to going because they give you so much food. They give you a salad, soup, rice, veggies, and your choice of meat with your meal. Then they top it off with a dessert of your choice--ice cream, sherbert, or key lime pie. We have been to other Japanese steak houses which have charged much more for less food. Happy Sumo provides good food at a great price. I just wish they would get some new material (soy sauce is "Japanese ketchup").

Don't have time for customer?. We try to order foods for 3 of us, not finished telling what we want, waitress already walk off like she is in a hurry. I order 1 more still not finished, she walked off again. Food is okay. We have left over because we feel uncomfortable there, asking for togo boxes, got 3 boxes without plastic bag. Table next to us got the box and the bag. Looks like they are in a hurry to please the incoming customers, don't worry much about sitting customers. Won't go back.... Very sweet to the Americans.

Caters To Western Palate. I find the sushi here very decent for their price, although nothing extraordinary to speak of. The restaurant is nicely divided into dining rooms for sushi and hibachi, utilizing its small space and creating a cozy atmosphere. The clientele is largely non-Asian, indicating Sumo's food and ambience caters to Western tastes. Predictable and inexpensive items can be found also on the hibachi, for which the Sumo uses 4 of its many subdivided dining areas. The hibachi cooks generally don't have great "moves", which greatly offsets the hibachi experience. Crowded during weekday lunches due to the office parks close by.

Not so happy with Happy Sumo. I've heard wonderful things about Happy Sumo, but was sorely disappointed with our first experience there. We went for a birthday hibachi lunch, and found the staff and food mediocre at best. Some of the utensils and dining area was not clean, and our hibachi chef was surprisingly surly; the diners were not demanding and tried to remain friendly - don't know what the problem was.
