Hairston's closing!!!???. My husband and I went last night (Sunday night) and was told that it was their last night being open. After 18 years they have closed their doors. I guess between Echolon opening and DJ NAB leaving, was just too much. Now where do grown folks go now on Sunday's....to the overcrowded Sports Bar where DJ NAB is now............NOT!
Very expensive food/drinks, extremely loud music..
This is one of the few times I have gone to a club after my college days, and after this experience I can say I won’t be back here, at least not without ear plugs and a full stomach.
My wife finally was successful in dragging me out of the house and made reservations for us and her cousins at this club on Father’s Day night. Immediately upon entering the parking lot, we are hit up with a $5 valet parking charge without the ability to park on our own. But luckily we got there early so there was no cover for either of us to get in the actual club.
Upon entering, we discovered that “Todd” did not write down our reservation request but since the place was fairly empty, we were seated without issue.
However, almost immediately the extremely loud music began to enter my ear and it was borderline painful. I couldn’t even hear myself think and could barely hear my wife talking even though she was sitting right next to me. We literally had to communicate via text message almost the entire night. Then when it came time to order our food I had to point to what I wanted because the waitress couldn’t hear me either. I didn’t even get exactly what I wanted to drink because I just couldn’t think straight with constant low thumping bass and high trebles pounding in my head. All I could get out was “I’ll have what he’s having”.
Speaking of the food, they are VERY expensive. While the food tastes good, it simply costs too much; and if you think the food is high you should see what their drinks cost. I had ONE Long Island iced tea and it was NINE DOLLARS. Also, because they only serve alcohol and bottled water I had to spend another 3 dollars for bottled water since that was the only non-alcoholic drink they had. Now keep in mind, this is the same bottled water you can get at Rite Aid or Kroger for $2.99 per 24 pack.
While the experience wasn’t all bad, there were good song selections and I had a few laughs, I just couldn’t really enjoy myself due to the painfully loud music. My ears are still ringing and numb the morning after and I fear I have lost a significant amount of hearing due to this one night. I really don’t see how people can come here frequently as I would think 2 or 3 nights here would leave one completely deaf. There is no need to play music this loud in such a small building. To make things even worse it seemed the the volume would be turned up even higher during some tracks. This is simply uncalled for, people can still have a good time with music played at a lower volumes.
To add insult to injury I spent nearly $60, including tip on good but overpriced food. I don't want to say it was a wasted night, but I've had better experiences elsewhere for far less the cost and without the ruthless onslaught on my ear drums.
I won’t be back here anytime soon, and if I do eventually come back I’ll be sure to have earplugs in my pocket and food in my belly.
Pros: Excellent waitress; good music; mature, drama free patrons that just want to have a good time.
Cons: Music way too loud, food expensive, drinks way too expensive.
HAIRSTON'S HAS AWESOME NEW COOK!. When I'm at Hairston's which is about 4 times a month I alway's order the lemon pepper wings's. But on my Boyfriend's Birthday he had a T-bone steak that was seasoned to profection veggie medley and mash potato's that I swear were homemade. I had the Chicken Alfredo, a side salad and garlic bread that was to die for. The Chef, well who we thought was the Chef was the one to bring the food to the table which was refreshing. He then returned to check on us and we told him how perfect the food was and tried to tip him, but he said that the smile on our face was his tip. So now two week's later on a Sunday eve around six like before we ordered the same food again, but this time we brought along three friends. We told them how awesome Erick is in the kitchen and they all had the Chicken Alfredo. OMG this was the worst food I have ever had before me,the steak had no seasoning, was just bland. The mashed Potato's were instant, The Chicken Alfredo was just awful and so was the bread, no garlic at all. I then ask my server to have Erick come to our table and she said that he had'nt gotten to work just yet. So I ask her who was doing the cooking and she said the Chef, I said the Chef? Yes Chef Teddy she said, I then said he could learn a few thing's from Erick. I still paid for everything, but I will not eat there unless Erick is doing the cooking. So to all that will dine and party at Hairston's ask your Server if Erick is in the house,Cuz If he ain't then you better order only chicken wing's because that's the only thing the Chef can cook. Good job Erick keep the passion for Good Food. And for the Manager Todd, YOU GO BOY. Mike, Sean, Toy, Chanara thumbs up. Stacy
Fun Place, Paying for a Birthday Party: Not Worth It.
PRO: Well it is a fun place. Great hostess. Our waitress Tori was great. She's awesome. Friends had a great time.
CON: I do not recommend paying for a Birthday Platter/party. The total was $225 with tax and tip. There was supposed to be enough appetizers for up to 15 people, there wasn't (not even close. The owner Todd didn't seem to really care about that. I was extremely disappointed but didn't want to get upset /angry and ruin my birthday). When they bought the food out I was like WTH. It was 12 of us looking at this little platter of food.
Nothing was set up when I arrived for my area, they only set up after I arrived (8:30pm). I had a total of 6 balloons for my "decorations" that they blew up after we got there. So a few of my guests who arrived before me were sitting at my reserved "party" area that didn't look reserved at all and had no decorations.
Three of my guests carrying birthday cake and everything had to pay $15 dollars each to get in because it was after 9pm, 9:15pm to be exact (even though I only had a group of 12) and even though I had paid $225 for and reserved the birthday party for my guests.
Oh and I reiterated over and over about my reservations and non-pork meatballs (4 weeks in advance, weekly almost, and two days before my birthday) and was assured about everything. When we get there, they didn't have non-pork meatballs. I thought I was going to get something special by paying a little extra but I feel I didn't at all.
We would have had just as much of a good time by just coming, ordering off the menu, and partying. Paying extra for the Party Platters not recommended.
Todd the manager is great!. He is very pleasant and friendly. If he ever leaves this place to go on his own or work with a real human being, it will match the personality of the owner, STEVE. NO STARS for that NASTY OLD PATHETIC GEEZER, or the greasy junk the owner passes off as food. You can digest the food, dance and drink, as long as you don't have to associate with that little pathetic sucker. I pity the entire staff that makes him the money.
Out with the OLD please back in with the NEW!. I made reservations with the manager Steve a month ago for my get together for my sister and her new inlaws. The manager Steve was great he told me everything I needed to do to secure my space and he put me in touch with his manager Todd. Todd was also great he was pleasant he knew everything about where we came from in Chicago and he confirmed everything I discussed with Steve. We get to the club last night and everything was going smooth until this old white haired snot box of a man is constantly hitting on my sisters 33 yr old cousin inlaw. His name was Bob and he claimed he was the owner and how him and his brother are the owners and he was going to make sure Hairstons was going to go back to having good looking people like her back in their doors!!! "HUH" the cousin asked what did that mean he told her her type, whats my type she asked ....light skin long hair beauties!!!!!!! WTF!!! and no matter how many times she tried to ditch him he popped up and his arrogance was showing all over his smug grin. Me and my sister have been coming to Hairstons for the last 5 years and Ive never had the displeasure of meeting this dude and we always had a great time with every color of the beautiful African American tree that blooms and I was ashamed of this "owner" who was not only a pervert but made us feel like whatever he spoke of of bringing back the old ways of things we will take a range check! Thank you Todd for your hospitality you and your staff were great! Steve thank you for being courteous and informative but if you guys work for that old geezer I'll be praying for yall!!!! I hope that guy wasn't married because he was like fiend to the yella gals in the place!
Hairston's - The best place to have a party.
I had my 39th birthday party at Hairston's Dinner Club in Stone Mountain. I was torn between patronizing Hairston's or Echelon 3000. I am so glad that I chose Hairston's!
I had my party on a Friday night in Hairston's "Vanilla Room". The room was elegant, modern and well-kept. I had about 65 guests that attend my party. Hairston's prepared the food - wings, meat balls, catfish, and seafood salad. The food was delicious and on point!
The manager, Steve, offered me an unbeatable price to have my party at Hairston's. He also accommodated my every wish and provided specialized attention - he gave me his cell number! Beyond all this, my guest and I received superb customer service. The hostess that was tending to my party was at my beck and call. She must have asked me if I needed anything a million times. Further, every time I made a visit to the bar, the bartender would say, "what can I get you birthday girl?" The DJ also gave me a few shout-outs" through out the night. Hairston's treated me like it was my night!!!
The bottom line is...if you want a beautiful, fun place, with new and old school music, where ADULTS hang out, come on to Hairston's because the food is great and the customer service is amazing!
Hairston's is a lot like McDonald's in that, their consistent, reasonably priced, good service, and a neighborhood fave!
Wedding Photography by IQphoto. My fiancé and I chose Joseph at IQPhoto after reviewing many different photographer's websites and comparing their work and prices. What we found is that though prices varied widely, few photographers…
Only 4 the Mature Crowd. The first time I went to this remarkable club I had the time of my life. I was greeted by warm and hospitable staff willing to serve my husband and I. I enjoyed the type of music that was being played. The food was outstanding as well. I plan on celebrating my birthday there and any other time I want to dance that is the place I want to be.
This is not for the kids. It is always interesting to read the reviews that try to sabatoge a long standing establisment like hairstons. A question come to mind. Did you call the club directly? more than likely the nikki love person did no such thing. Since I know for a fact, that had she done so...she would have had the privillage of dealing with the mananager todd directly. I have my parties at hairstons every year....and now my friends and family who want to stay away from partying with disrepectful 25 and under patron..chooses to host their events at Hairstons as well. Jennifer has always been polite and effecient. I have even called her directly in the middle of event had she was able to resolve what ever the issue was remotely. Her staff is more than respectable from the front door staff to the serving staff. Tidd the manager is always accomondating. It's unfortantly the nikki love girl judged the whole establishment based on a phone call to Ms. Jennifer's cell phone....but the questions still remains...why didn't she simply call the club????? Better luck next time Nikki, perhaps your online ranting tantrum is better suited for the blue flame....or Ambieance...oh that's right...they are no longer open....YET....the 20 plus year old establishment that is Hairstons dinner Club still is.
